    1. Charities must state the cost of their adverts on every one along with the percentage of funds raised and overheads that cost equates to.
    2. Tougher financial penalties for companies that break the law, especially banks who invest/lend in stupid wrappers/vehicles that no one undertsands: hit the bar stewards where it hurts - in the ledger book!

Hopefully you'll be pleased to hear that dipping my toe in the water has paid off. Our first politician has agreed to read the final compiled list, and its a party leader. Nick Clegg of the Lib Dems.... plus he sent one of his own (which I shall add to the first post.

Cheapest Energy Units should be the first
It’s unfair that the first energy units you use are the most expensive: it’s harder to save money by cutting back. The first units should be cheapest, so people who use least, pay least. But I’d protect any low income families who genuinely need lots of energy with lower “social tariffs”.

The charges start higher because there is usually no standing charge. Charging less for the first load of units makes sense, particularly for green issues, but how do the suppliers recover their core admin fees? If low users don't pay, everybody else will pay more.

    I preferred the standing charge.

    That's good news, Martin

Ban threats of bankruptcy It should be illegal for a creditor to threaten bankruptcy where they are either unable to issue a statutory demand, or when they do not intend to petition for bankruptcy.

Companies offering loans or goods on credit terms should quote the length of time for repayment in months rather than years. I know you can easily work it out but somehow 72 months sounds much shorter and more manageable than 6 years.

The Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) should name the worst offenders.

Currently the FOS do not publish the names of financial firms where complaints arise - so whilst consumers of financial services are risk rated on their past record, providers are not.

    Publically naming the worst offenders

    - would give the consumer vital information, which they are currently denied,

    - and the negative publicity might incentivise the providers to improve their service.
    **********************

Would it give you pause for thought before you enter into a contract with a Company - if you knew in advance - that it had more complaints than any other Company?
That information is known to the FOS - are you happy that they - quite intentionally and deliberately - withold it from you?

Credit unions would be allowed to visit schools and allow kids to set up savings accounts, we need to teach the upcoming generation that saving up for something is feasible, that it doesn't have to be buy now, pay later on an inflated sale price.

We drive in miles and buy fuel in litres. We describe fuel economy in miles per gallon or kilometres per litre.

We need to move to miles per litre or return to selling fuel by the gallon.

And ban decimals of a penny pricing. At the monent, you can rarely buy a litre of fuel without a 0.9p coin.
