Return our currency to the Gold Standard, thus removing the smoke and mirrors insanity of a currency based on the whims of traders.0

BAN 0845 / 0870 TELEPHONE NUMBERS TO GOVERNMENT OFFICES IE. CSA ETC...
This is an outragous practice that hurts/targets the low income single parents who need their help the most, and who are most likely to be using the number because they are desparate for maintenence payments from errant spouse.
...or better still disband the ineffective CSA and share out the salaries!
On a personal note and just to back up my opinion of the CSA, my claim went into the CSA at least 8 years ago. I have correspondence dating back that far! To date I have received a handful of payments of £3.00 per week and one payment of £29. They have failed for a year now to inform me of the amount of arrears that have been calculated. They passed the case to Eversheds in Leeds (debt collection agency) that resulted in the above payment of £29. He defaulted after that. I have recently received an updated letter which states arrears are nil! I have given up.
I think he has been nominated by the CSA for father of the year!
No-one can apparently catch this 'genius at work'
Incidenty, he sees my two children more than once a week.0 -
Stay at home mothers/fathers could be paid 'a salary' to stay home / an incentive to invest in the upbringing of their child, instead of 'encouraging all' parents to go out to work. This could be a percentage of the weekly allowance paid to the makeshift orphanges / childcare centres that is so encouraged. What do the low paid childcare workers in these centres care how children turn out at 18! It would be an investment in our future generations.
At least give people the choice and encourage family values.0 -
Each energy company to have ONE PRICE for it's gas and ONE PRICE for it's electricity, rather than the lunatic system where some companies can have as many as 200 DIFFERENT PRICES, depending on the region you live and your ability to pay.0

Family-friendly tax system
A couple who are both employed pay much less tax than a family with the same earnings if there is a single breadwinner and the partner stays at home to care for children.
Introduce US-style “Joint Filing”, to allow families to benefit from unused tax allowances of non-working partners.0 -
If you terminate a contract which is being paid through a direct debit on your credit card, rather than through your bank acccount, I understand that you have to rely on the company you are paying to cancel the direct debit. You can not do it yourself.0

Stop the complex working/family tax credits system. Allow families to share and use all their tax allowances and rates as the French do.0

Don't penalize lone parents on incomes of less than £16,000 by refusing them other benefits like free school meals because they receive working tax credits. Should they not be being encouraged to work like the government want.0

Prisoners to pay for the cost of their care (similar to student loans and care home fees for elderly homeowners).
-or- Containment of prisoners to be farmed out to third world countries: poor countries get money from the UK and we save millions in cost of keeping criminals locked up because other countries can do it much cheaper than we can here.

Mobile Phone Cashback - if the cashback company breaches contract make the main phone contract voidable. Should discourage irresponsible pyramid style cashback companies and help those who sign up to a deal. The phone company might then take a more responsible view on whether they wish to deal with these suppliers or not.0
