MP's should be paid a fixed rate per night (equivalent to a medium-priced hotel) when they have to stay in London.
They should be paid their transport fares on submitting receipts or a fixed mileage rate.
The government should employ secretaries/researchers rather than paying MP's to pay them.:rudolf: Always skip and eat your peas :rudolf:0 -
BACS has a monopoly on money t'fr & should face competition.0

My husband is a self-employed with arely any work because of the credit crunch, he is unable to get JSA NI based and unable to get JSA income based as I work for a local charity 18 hours a week on a low hourly rate. Without JSA we are unable to get help towards our mortgage even though he is unemployed. If I did not go to work we could get income based JSA and then help towards morggage soon after.
How unfair that because I work for a charity on a low wage that we will have to survive on my small 18 hour week salary while he is out of work.
Help should be based on income not how many hours you work.
So there is nothing to help us from losing our home.
Should I try to get the sack?0 -
Allow married/civil partner parents to transfer tax allowances between them to help parents whose career is on hold to raise children. If we agree it’s important that children are raised properly, let’s support the people doing it. It wouldn’t cost a massive amount but would make a huge difference.0

Interest rates on credit cards and loans from banks should match that of the bank of england base rate and move up and down in the same way as savings and mortgages, rather than having their own exorbitant rules which aren't aligned0

Nick Clegg put that idea to G Brown at PM's question time months ago and he promised to 'look into it'. What has been done since then? It is the only fair way to treat all energy customers equally and always should have been. As usual we've tolerated one law for rich and another for the poorer.
I also told Brown & Blair to stop city bonuses in 2001, now look what's happened because they ignored that! Bankers should work for nothing like BA staff are being asked to do and pay back their 'bonuses' or go to jail for theft, as should MP expense cheats.
Interest Rates - should be legally capped to prevent usury, so that no one pays more than 3 times the B of E base rate on any debt. Loan Sharks should get 30 years jail as minimum.
Bankruptcy/Insolvency - No company should be allowed to go bankrupt if their Directors are committing fraud by doing so. Individuals should not be judged bankrupt without a full hearing and not if they were solvent at the time. The Insolvency Act violates Human Rights and has done for years. It's not even compatible with Scottish Law on 'creditors applications' on the same topic.0 -
They should also take into account jointly accrued debts taken on by the non-resident parent in order to help the resident parent. Also, parental rights should be awarded to those who act with parental and financial responsibility, not restricted to mothers and married fathers.Help single parents in debt because of previous partners, to help get children out of poverty. The CSA should take into account debts left for the parent with care to pay by the non-resident parent. Financial responsibility must come with contact. No rights without responsibilities.0

Abolish the various conversion formula so that the true cost is known. Calorific values change as well as the cost per them and cubic feet. You need a scientific calculator to actually work out a comparison. Make the charge simple and directly related to the numbers on the meter0

Most credit card statements show the monthly rate of interest applicable to the sum shown. It sometimes goes to 6 decimal places. Standardise the way the rates are shown and also include the APR using an industry standard that all companies must adopt.Make it transparent and simply understandable.0

Make people pay at least 25% stamp duty on second homes, and make this payable to local authorities rather then central government. Serious action is needed to prevent villages in popular holiday spots becoming off-season ghost towns, and housing needs to be affordable to local people not just rich city dwellers.0
