More needs to be done to encourage business and people to expand and develop other parts of the UK.
Other areas in the UK need investment. London and the South East is going to struggle to cope with more development and an ever-increasing regional population.0 -
All new housing stock should have a minimum standard (in terms of size, number of rooms etc).
Developers are cramping as many houses and flats as they can in to limited spaces and consequently, too many new builds are small and impractical. They offer a lower standard of living. More should be done to develop areas and transportation outside of densely populated areas.0 -
Forget about demographics, help everyone on an individual working/pension basis. Then individuals would receive help and families whatever combination would be better off automatically. OK, 1 parent families will get less than 2 parent families etc, but we must take more responsibility for our life choices!0

I think it's insane when we hear people going to prison indefinetly but they can be out in three years. Sentances should be fixed once agreed and the only option should be an extension for bad behaviour. They commited a crime after all. and no matter what good behaviour they do afterwards alters that fact!0

Clear and concise Itemised billing, why is it still allowed that customers don't know what their bill is going to be.
Smart meters for all utility bills ,no shocks when the bill comes in ,the end to mistakes in meter charges.0 -
Require all financial institutions to offer this, or at the very least the BACS, for withdrawals/closure of savings accounts. Repayments by cheque using the postal system allow financial institutions to keep your money in their account for several days after it has been deducted from your account with them.0

Require detailed power consumption information to be printed on the outer packaging of ALL electrical items, by law.
People need to be able to make more informed choices about the energy efficiency of products they buy. The current vague A-E rating system for large appliances is not good enough. All electrical items, even small ones, should say how much they use, in watts.
Implement stricter regulation of door to door sales people, especially those selling utilities.
These forums are full of stories of people who have been switched to a different utility company, without their permission, following a cold call from a salesman. The government needs to be doing more to protect us from what is basically a form of fraud.0 -
Mandate that service contracts (e.g. mobile telephone and internet services) can be cancelled verbally over the telephone if they were agreed in the same manner.
Some telcos already allow this but others require you to write in at all times to give notice to end your contract with them. If you can enter a service contract verbally over the phone, you should be allowed to end it verbally also.0 -
Require bank charges and service fees to be presented as a bill to the customer, and to be paid my the same methods as other service bills.
Her Majesty's Government is not able to take money out of my account as and when it likes, and the bank I trust to keep my money should not be allowed to do so either. A bill also allows a customer to dispute the charges if a mistake has been made.0 -
Require ALL mobile/telephone/internet service contracts to give a cooling off period proportional to the length of the contract, however they are sold.
Service contracts are trending towards longer minimum terms therefore the consumer should be allowed to change their mind within a few days, even if the contract was done in a store. It is too easy to tie oneself into a two-year committment.0
