Desparately need a new PAYG phone - Any ideas? How about Motorola V360 or the V3?

I have an old Nokia 702 - I know you probably haven't heard of it, it's big and heavy - one of the first I think! Just looked up how much it's worth ... guess ... it's worth £1! Anyway, it doesn't work when I need it to, I don't use it very often (I daren't show it!) and am looking for a new one.

I would like a 'flip phone' - it needs to be compact, I haven't use of one arm so nothing hard to open (flip phone), needs to be small enough to put in pocket as I can't carry a bag with me.

I have been looking at the Motorola V3, but it doesn't have great reviews. Another one I have looked at, but haven't been able to see 'in the fresh' is Motorola V360 - anyone got one of these? I am on Orange, and wouldn't mind vodaphone either - can anyone help please?

Please?

the best thing to do with buying phones online is to go to a shop first and try them out. One person's love is another person's hate. One thing which varies a lot is the keypad style and layout, you can't really see what thats like without trying one out in store.

Once you picked one, buy online. Don't tell the salesman instore this, even if its the same company online ... they're losing out on commission.....

My daughter has the Moto V3 and I don't think the flip is that easy to open whereas my Samsung is easier and can be done with one hand.

Thanks for that greyster, the only problem is I can't find a Motorola V360 in a store near here! I have seen the V3 (in comet), and although they won't let you try them - they are all displayed but you can't hold them (they're fixed onto display), I even asked someone but they said they couldn't take one out of a box! I could not believe it!

One of the staff came to talk to me and he said I could look at his (he had the V3) - and so he kindly let me try it out, explaining what everything did etc. He also told me that he bought it online (advising me to do the same! - great guy). The V3 was great, good feel, very slim, although it doesn't have mp3, but there have been a lot of negatives about it.

Shame I can't find a V360 anywhere to look at.

Thanks Edinburghlass for that - I could manage to open the V3 pretty well, and with practise it would be ok, I was just worried that I'd drop the bloke's phone in the shop as he kindly let me see it!

What is the Samsung phone you have if you don't mind me asking?

    Hi.

I have the motorola v360 and my brother has the v3. I can open mine well with one hand, and it has a user friendly interface. Personally I think the v360 is better if you want practicality as it is newer and a few little improvements were made. It also has a memory card slot which the V3 doesn't.

If you got to this link you can compare the two models of phone on the same page.

My beloved but old Samsung A800 icon11.gif

I did buy a Samsung E330 but have never got round to using it because it needs unlocked and I just still like using the A800. One of these days when I get to the market for groover to unlock for me I will change over as I bought it because I liked the layout and was used to the Samsung.

But having said that the buttons are probably quite small compared to the V3 although I haven't used my daughter's much.

I know what you mean about displays though especially on those ones where you pull out the cord to try and get a feel for them. I never thought before about someone having to use them one handed, its an interesting point.

    I've got a Motorola V635
similar in size etc to the 360
just tried and the flip is much easier to open than the V3, the voice dialling is great too which would also help :)

uberzoldat - How much bulkier is the V360? I know it is deeper, and how sturdy is it? From pictures on website it looks solid - I've seen some flip phone which are very plasticky!

Edinburghlass - It's not something you would think about, but when you lose the use of an arm, you find ways of doing things - it's surprising!

Glad - Is the V635 an upgrade from V360?

    Appreciate your help.

The v360 is 24mm in depth, which is just bigger than my thumb's width.
It doesn't seem particularly plasticky to me, it is much sturdier than the phone i used to have, whih was the v525.

I have had the v360 for about 6 months now, and there are no operating faults yet which is good considering I do tend to drop mine a fair bit. :o

The silver paint is starting to come off the side buttons, which may or may not be because of me dropping it, or possibly pocket abrasion.

The v635 came out just before the v360, but some features are better, like the outside screen is in colour, and there is a flash with the (superior) camera.

    Check here for more details.

    uberzoldat,
Thanks for that information and the link - it's great. It's odd that the V360 is the most recent, and the V635 is a lot dearer! I can't see much difference between them to be honest, except that the camera on the V635 is superior in comparison.
