They haven't taken any action on my account yet. They said I must ring another department on Monday to get it downgraded.

I'm off to University next year (have unconditional offer) and will be opening an account with Natwest anyway to get their rail card (will save me money), so might as well have an account with them now and switch it to a student account when I go.

They have a few things that HSBC don't
    • UK 24/7 Call Centres (HSBC don't, unless you pay £13/month)
    • Free txt alerts/messages (HSBC charge £2.95, unless you pay them £13/month)
    • Natwest regular saver is 5%, HSBC is 4% unless you pay them £13/month
    • Natwest allows you to ring through to your direct branch

Mate - £13 a month is the registration fee for Plus and yea, you get much better service than shattywest will ever offer you. Also, HSBC will give you the branch phone and email address if you ask (in branch) - I have my adviser and managers email and direct numbers. Cos I asked for them when I went in one day and now I email them any questions, usually to get answers for on here!

I think you're mad - if you want I can post you some Natwest links and HSBC links and see for yourself what gets the most complaints......

I have to agree that Natwest is pretty sh!te.

I have an account with them, used purely for setting money aside. The Solo card you get from them is ugly and their online banking isn't that great either.

Hang on, which court decided in her favour? How the hell can they do that using an ex as party (i.e. usually they are an ex for reason and it aint good!) so anomosity is evident and the court believed her?

Wow - did you challenge this and reverse it saying the loan was in fact for the ex and she invited you to go?

If the grandmother is not b/r then to be fair the creditors can shovel for their dosh! Keep to the agreement, how much you owe? They will usually accept a low offer in such cases to allow winding up of estate.

Take advantage maybe.... This just goes to show you what goes around comes around - bet you laughed when you heard the news?

so is it being reported to the CRA? It was my local small claims court, HMRCS I think?!

I aint heard anything from the new company taking the estate since they took over it, thus no chaeques have been sent, nothing! I sent cheques from April 2008 until December 2008, which is when the new company took over it!

I aint had any threatening letters!

If you log into your online banking, it should list the account you applied for and a link saying "Application Status" or something similar. It will tell you if they have made a decision and whether its an acceptance or decline.

Didn't it ask you to register for an online banking account when you applied? Usually you have to register when applying for any product, if your a new customer.

  • You aren't helping much mate! Have you already replied to their letter and did you amend my letter to mention the cash element? I'm confused, as are they, as to why you've suddenly started acting about this already?

Regards to default, it is not the default that you need to worry about - it is statute barred and they have said this in their own letter to you (i.e. the default went on in Nov 2003 and will drop off Nov this year but this is wrong cos its 5yrs up norf!)..... However only for statute barred.

Bottom line is that you need to be a lot more forthcoming about this cos i'm lost mate! Why did you take them to court (are you mad?) on what basis/advice? Can you sue whoever suggested you take it court?

What was the principle offer that made you go that far? How did you lose, what was the judgement? Were there conditions? Did the judge say that the debt had to be repaid?

See what I mean, so many permutations dependent upon the question.....

You should never have gone to court - thats what puzzles me, why did you and what for?

I took them to court due to bank charges. thats what there talking about in the letter. I claimed for £779.57 and they said they were only willing to offer £291.95 but i was disputing it and it when to a court case which i had to put forward a court bundle of info regarding the claim as i wanted the full payment but i lost in court and this is the 1st i have heard about capital one still willing to pay the £291.95

No i havent sent a reply letter yet mate
  • @ Never in Doubt

Yes thats the exact letter i sent capital one when you told me i sent them that and thats the reply i got regarding the matter

HSBC have a UK 0800 freephone number that you can dial for customer service which I use all the time.

Can you tell me it? That might come in handy.

See, my overdraft on the left has gone. (Ignore my very low funds until payday on Tuesday :P)

  • ditching Halifax as they want to charge me £63 for being overdrawn by £3 for less than a day

I think we should be able to correct terms and conditions with banks for personal needs i.e. NO allowing Unauthorised overdrafts under any circumstance as this has left me O/D above my overdraft before.
