    good evening guys

    Got a question.

Am trying to work out stuff for obtaining a mortgage next year but trying to tidy up my experian credit file a wee bit.

    1) There is known addresses on my file well over 6 years ago, can i get these removed?
    2) whats the best thing to do? close down some credit cards i dont use and keep the major ones or keep them all?
    3) same question regards to online shop accounts.

Hello mate, hope you are keeping well.
Close off the unused cards and any other unused credit.
With regard to the linked addresses, ask them to be removed as you do not recognise them, deny all knowledge. ;)

cheers will do that. will wait till there over 12 months tho before i close them

Also the thing is i only really keep a eye on the experian file. so dont know whats on my equifax one. you think its a good idea to try tidy that up aswell.

    I have 4 credit cards. limits as follows. Capone: £1250 / flybe £4000 / MBNA £500 / Vanquis £250

Thinking of closing the vanquis and MBNA and just use the 2 main ones. good idea? bad idea?

Keep the cards with the high limits, ask MBNA for better card, increase etc if not tell them bye and close.
Also make sure one of the cards you keep has the longest history on it.

vanquis are W**nkers. I needed a new card due to it not working and i got a sent a new card and they have closed the account on my credit report and opened a new one for the new card. that means when i close this next month it wont look good due to it being open for 2 months will it?

Yes capone has the longest history about 18months and flybe about 12 months

All card companies do this if your card number is different as the Visa number is the account number.
