I only stopped because of the price. Once they reached £5 a pack I decided to jack it in even though I loved smoking.

Yeah, they are redicously expensive. I usually smoke tobacco because a £2.60 pack lasts me 3 days, where as a 20 pack of cigs lasts a day.

I don't enjoy smoking at all, but it keeps me calm and stress-free :D.

My friend smokes roll ups. She gets a large packet of Golden Virginia from the corner shop "under the counter" for £3.50

    Vanquis Card

    Dear Sirs

    ACCOUNT NUMBER:

I am writing in regards to the recent increase to my interest rates. My current purchase interest rate stands at 54.19% per annum. Before the recent rate increase, my purchase rate stood at 47.890% per annum.

As you know, I have been a customer with Vanquis for some time. I have never exceeded my credit limit nor missed any payments on any sort of credit agreement. I have always paid more than the minimum monthly payment. I consider myself to be an excellent customer and have given Vanquis hundreds of pounds in interest charges during the time I have been a customer.

I wish to be considered for an interest rate decrease. I have a large credit limit however I have not been able to utilise this to the full extent merely because of the interest rates. I believe Vanquis would benefit in the long-term if my interest rates were dramatically lowered, this will allow me to spend more and repay less each month over a longer period.

I have an excellent credit rating and two mainstream credit cards benefiting from interest rates such as 19.9% and 24.9%. I would be grateful if you can explain to me why my Vanquis interest rates are so high.

    Yours sincerely

    I'm pleased, but also confused.

Last week I applied for a FlyBe card - no deal
Today I applied for an RBS card - no deal, even though I bank with them and have paid off a loan with them recently.
Applied for Barclaycard Initial - DEAL! Despite my biggest debt in the past (and still showing on my credit report) being with Barclaycard.

No idea what they were thinking!
    My debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |

Total £4151.44 | £2900.30 of £7051.74 paid off since diary started October 2024.

    :pHellooooooooooooo

I am pretty new on here but like you guys have all had to deal with defaults and CCJs etc.

Just wanted to ask a few things... what is this SOS thing all about and the comments about being clean until a certain date?

I want to clean up my credit file and have succeeded in getting one CCJ set aside, however, my report still shows it on there so just waiting for it to be removed.

I have a default placed June 09 which is in relation to a disputed account and I know the defaults mess up our accounts, but I assume CCJs are worse?

I bascially can't get credit until things are sorted and I wondered where is the best place to start with credit please?

I have a dispute with Cap One who defaulted me back in Jan but the £300 owed is their charges an is currently going through the FOS. I already have a Vanquis card but Aqua keep declining me but I think that coul be because you have to leave it 6 months before reapplying - am I right?

Any help greatly appreciated and love reading all the comments on this thread LL
