Lloyds Current Accounts do come with a Cheque Guarantee Card as standard, I opened one last month, and got a Cheque Card as standard, and I didn't have the option of requesting one. I wouldn't say they were relaxed when it came to upgrading either, they use the same methods adopted by other banks, infact I would say they were more tougher.
Hi,
I can confirm you the fact that I hold a premier account with Lloyds Tsb, with a healthy Overdraft, However when I was upgraded to a platinum account and then to a premier account, on both the occassions i did not recieve a debit card with the CG function, and when i enquired about the same the branch told me they do not issue them standard anymore, but would be more than happy to issue me one if i needed it. I did ask them for it and only then i got the premier account debit card with a CG facility of £250.0 -

That is because i can reconfirm that they do not issue CG cards standard any more, you have request for one and if you qualify (score high enough with LTSB) they will issue with one.0 -
Well what i meant by saying LTSB is lenient in upgrading, is that they follow a internal behaviour score like HSBC or Abbey, so if you maintain, say a basic account really well with them for certain a period of time, then you are more likely to be upgraded to a current account as compared to say Natwest, who would externally score you to upgrade your basic account apart from also looking at your internal score with them. LTSB in most occasions follow their own internal behavior score for certain products and can override certain declines by the computer based on the external credit score (like for upgrding an account), so you are more likely to get away with them having a certain amount of adverse in your credit file than say with Natwest, but mind you only for certain products.0

Hi
I have their Platinum Debit Card with a £250 CGL, and can definately assure you, this card came as "standard", as did my first £100 CGL Green Olympics Debit Card, I did not request the CGL card, it just arrived like that.0 -
