    Hi guys,

Apologies if this q has been asked before, but I was wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to have credit searches removed from one's credit file?

The reason I ask is I've recently checked my Equifax file, and in Table 1, which is credit application/searches, there are regular searches from AktivKapital under the reason "Outstanding Debt". All these searches are at the 3 addresses Equifax have linked to me - my current address, where I've lived for 3yrs 4m, my parents' address where I lived before my current address, and was last on electoral roll in 2003, and an address I last lived at 1997 with my cheating b*$7*rd ex-boyfriend.
I have not been in debt for at least 7 years, so I assume anything outstanding is statute-barred, therefore how are these leeches still allowed to search my file???
Has anyone else had this problem?

If you're specifically speaking about outstanding debt entries, they remain for 6yrs like a default - they are, if you like, telling other lenders that a DCA is looking for you. Dirty cheap sjot but perfectly lawful, as they are sweeping systems searching a match - if you have one of these entries then they found a match, i.e. you!

You can get rid, but bear in mind statute barred releases you from the debt it does not enforce removal of defaults etc - this is after 6yrs of default date. Complicated to explain, but being it is statute barred then they shouldn't be searching as they are not allowed to - this is clear in my letter that I posted earlier - here:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=22379941&postcount=4878

Notice the key phrases in the letter, they cannot pursue the debt - this can be construed as meaning they cannot search you because the debt is unenforceable. Is this your debt? can you tell me some more and i'll whip you up a reply to get them removed :p

Have I not done a response for you already - lol, recognise your username!

Never-in-doubt, how do you appeal a HSBC Credit Card decision? I applied tonight online and got an instant decline due to 'credit scoring'.

easy mate! you need to go on (and on, and on) about being existing customer and how good you handle accounts and mention that the only debts you have are visible and if they look at your DD's/SO's/Bill Payments then they will confirm that I pay on time etc.... remember I only have HSBC as my bank so they see everything - dont you split your banking mate?

I cant send my template cos it went to a fraud manager and they will recognise it 100% - lol. Its quite specific to HSBC and until I have the card in my hand I will not post my letter - plus it was specific to me
Whats your behaviour score, if you know? Mine was in 70's the branch told me..... My credit file is a mess and as such, hsbc cifas me last week (lol). when I appealed they said it;d come off cos i sent in enough proof. so now they will not refer to equifax as they know the data is queried.

I do though pay over £5k though my accounts each month and have 15 DD's and 3 SO's and maintain at least £1k in credit at all times.... never used o/d.

    if that helps...

Nooo - fight them! Ignore means they carry on doing it - you have to show em who's boss mate! If they took payment after the statute bar date they are breaking the law - like paying a bankrupt company - you don;t do it!

Over the last 3 years I have had countless letters from these morons..one chasing a Barclaycard debt..not mine...then 5 different First National..Lombard accounts..again not mine.
Even offered me a 75% discount to pay them off...was nearly tempted NOT :rotfl:

£500 has been going into my HSBC account for 4 months, and around £300 a month before that. All my DD's go out of HSBC. I don't split my accounts anymore, just use HSBC. I have a Plus account with them (with CGC). I was told my behaviour score last month was 53 (i think), but went down to 38 this month as I canceled all of my DD's, then reinstated them (long story).

I officially started a new job today and now on around 14k before tax. This will be going into my HSBC account as of the 15th.

What's the address I have to write to for an appeal?
