Yeah. Don't get me wrong, I like catalogue companies as much as the next person, mainly because of the flexibility but unfortunately that flexibility comes at a price.
Before I make large purchases, I usually calculate the costs if I were to buy from Kays or purchase using the credit card. Which ever is the cheapest gets my business.
The interest rate on my Vanquis card is sort of an incentive for me to pay more each month and get the balance cleared quickly. With Kays, I tend to pay the minimum because the price wont change for the 20/52 week interest free periods.
Credit cards and catalogues equally have their good and bad points.... the bad points clearly outweigh the good ones. :rotfl:
true enough.
you hear it all the time, and in my case too, people lurk on this thread for long periods before ever posting,if at all.they normaly have no credit and dont think they can get any.
the cats unfortunately are a lifeline,or necessary evil, evil ish,for some.

Unfortunatly i got declined, so what do you suggest i put in future for other aplications? As im sure there systems will see something wrong when someone in there 20s is retired
Thanks guys xx
When i applied for the flybe card i selected the the other option as i didn't want to select unemployed.i got a call from them and they were very helpful and said i should have selected the retired option.Week later a card arrived with a 5000 credit limit.
AT end of april i applied for virgin card i phoned them before making online application to check what option to select and they also said retired.I also got accepted for this card but the limit not as generous as flybe.
I have 3 other cards halifax Lloyd's and pay pal and i also selected retired.
I'm 44 and my age didn't flag anything on their systems.
You may have been declined for other reasons iE bad credit rating or lack of credit history.
Others on this thread are on disability if you post some info on your credit history i'm sure you'll get lots of help and advice.Good luck.0 -
