Lady from First Direct phoned back. She said 'We have canceled your application and sent you a letter about this'. I told her it's very unfair that I was honest with you, and you've thrown it back in my face. She just said they would have realized once I returned the application anyway and that I must wait 4 more months before applying again.

Thinking of sending a letter to them... is it worth it?

Not really mate, they will stick to the NO cos its within their not allowed period.

I just applied last night, do you know if they do checks after you return forms or before? I think they send forms to anyone, and decline etc upon receipt - is this wrong?

Obviosuly i'd like the account but wont send them back just to be declined lol

They credit check you as soon as you apply online. They straight decline you if you don't meet their credit score. If they send the form, you've been 'provisionally accepted' subject to final checks which I guess are fraud checks etc.

I've got the urge to apply for something, but have vanquis, cap1, aqua, littlewoods, o2, hsbc c/a, lloyds c/a.... was going to try an overdraft with hsbc.... but think you have to have an account 6 months.... i've had mine 4 and 1/2.

I've been declined straight out by FD without any forms previously

Nice so when she told me the forms would be sent 1st class today, that is a good thing then is it? She never said i'd been provisionally approved or anything, just that she'd send forms to me but I did throw the HSBC thing at her - lol, like I currently use HSBC and they told me in branch to ring you - things like that! Hope I get it, but not holding breath.....

does it give a decline at the point you press submit or do they do it via email/letter?

Right, so that could mean then that I don't get letter sent today but in fact a decline letter LOL.

Its just annoying if they do what Natwest do and lead you to believe you've got it, then say no after you've signed the forms that usually mean you've been accepted!

Instant decisions would be better - ooooh, the shame of waiting for the postie LOL :rotfl:
