Best opening line ever. Now I see why this thread is back up the charts.

Just had a look at dazascooby's other post, looks like he's got a catch phrase.

I am also glad the thread has made a welcome return as I started the thread. Unfortunetely Tesco seem to have tightened up the mis prices so gone are the days of free printers, hoovers and crates of champagne!!!

Thank you all for contributing and keeping the thread on the front page

Bought some apples on Monday from Tesco reduced from £2.49 to £1.25...my receipt showed the apples down twice (£2.49 + £1.25) I went to Customer service who gave me back £4.48 (i.e. £2.49 twice)..but they kept my apples which I had paid £1.25 for....should I have had my apples back? I did ring Tesco when I got home one member of staff said "yes " the other person from Tesco said "No I should go back into shop and buy my apples again as I should have only been given £2.49 back plus apples".

Sorry I know this is very confusing but it's quite funny trying to work out who's right ...:rotfl:

Tesco said if I'd been given my apples back then I should have been given only £2.49 back not £4.98....:) doesn't matter now as the apples are out of date, Tesco did say they put my apples back in store to sell again...:rotfl:

You were charged £2.49 too much, so DTD means you get twice that back (£4.98) and you keep the apples.

Sounds to me like the reduced sticker was not correctly over the barcode, so you had a double scan where the original price got scanned, then the reduced bar code.

So you paid £3.74 (£2.49 + £1.25) for the apples. You should have paid £1.25.

Under Tesco DtD policy, you should have kept the apples and received £4.98 (double the difference between price at till and price on sticker). another example of CS not knowing their own policy - the big blue board behind them makes it quite clear you should keep the product as well as DtD. I'd follow this one up with a HO letter personally - I'm a principle kind of person - and the principle here is that CS don't know national policy!
