Tesco misprices and discussion thread 11

Mixed fortune for me this morning...
Went to a Tesco Extra, picked up bacon and sirloin. 'Discovered' overcharge after I had paid and duly queued up at CS.
Mentioned the bacon overcharge first and CS lady went to check the bacon. She came back and complained to her colleague that 'they've put out the wrong stock'. She apologised and happily refunded me £12 (bought 4 packs of bacon).
THEN, I mentioned the sirloin and she immediately turned trouty and said, 'Oh no, it's only stickered stock. I checked this morning and we don't have any. We haven't had any delivered'. Hmm, kind of strange for a CS assistant to be checking (and remembering) exactly what had been delivered overnight... I said that there was no empty space on the shelf where the half price stock should be, but she wouldn't have it. She just insisted that the stickered stock would be amongst the 'normal' stuff. Not sure how they would be able to justify charging two different amounts for the same product... (Insisted on a full refund for the steak, and trout insisted on taking the points off of my clubcard:rotfl:)
Zipped round to a smaller branch and saw the steak sign outside. Searched for the bacon but it doesn't look as though they stock it. Found one lonely pack of sirloin and plucked up the courage to try again. Well the CS staff couldn't have been nicer. The manager was called and he went outside to check the poster. While he was doing so, I had a lovely chat with the young male CS assistant about last night's TV.
The manager came back in to the store with the poster and said he had checked the shelf, and there didn't even appear to be any half price sirloin or any SELs where it should have been. He said he would remove the poster to stop anyone else being overcharged.
They got a calculator to work out what half price should be (and I panicked slightly before asking whether I would get DTD). The manager was so nice, and said of course and that he was sorry for the inconvenience caused. Both the manager and the CS assistant were so friendly and polite. It was a pleasure to shop in that store - and get free steak of course!
So, I got one pack of free steak from one store, and four packs of bacon from another.
Thanks smmjh11 for the heads up regarding the bacon, and for the sirloin OP. :T
Just wondering whether to complain to HO regarding the steak excuses at the first store I visited, and if so, whether to mention that I got the steak at the second store with no problems. Hmm...
EEK, Sorry for the essay....:D0 -

I know you are not going to like what i am about to say,but why do you have to be so greedy you got some free goods and you want to get more. What if the manager in the second store gets in to trouble for being so helpful and giving you the steak for free.it will just make him less help full to the next person who wants dtd.I like most people like to get a bargain but i still find people like you are just so greedy and it makes it harder for everyone else.0 -

Erm, I got one pack of steak free. Not sure how that's greedy. It's the whole reason why I read and try to contribute to this thread.
I think you'll find that lots of people are making the most of this glitch. Perhaps you've missed the point? Not really sure why you're actually bothering to read this thread if you don't agree with what those that participate in it do...
I don't have to justify to you what I intend to do with the steak and bacon. It's none of your business and not your concern. However, rest assured that I'm far from greedy.0 -
I've been able to use them about 50% of the time, just one voucher along with maybe 15/20 items and a couple of other vouchers (they seem to double check the Campbell soup one more often and I presume thats because they are not seeing as many of them). If it gets rejected I keep it casual and say I wasn't aware - no biggie.

I had the Campbell one questioned too, and the unilever ones I suppose they don't see many of them, manager ok'd them thoughMSE- The Glitchhikers guide to the galaxy0 -
Four packs of bacon and a sirloin steak are reasonable things to stock up on if you have a chance. Any of us would gave done the same I dare say. Tesco are very quick to overcharge countless customers who have picked these items up expecting cheaper price as advertised but, trustingly, neglected to check their receipt.
I think HO should be informed that they are misleadingly advertising products outside stores which gave not been stocked. They are luring customers into their stores on false pretenses. Shameful!:A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A

I have only been able to print off the Sainsbury version (Te$co option doesn't appear) so am holding off for it to go on offer, its valid till end of Oct.
Mr S just had a 2 for £2.50 offer that has just ended - might be another in a little while thoughthanks for informing me about this. that was the only working one i'm afraid.
don't think there was anything wrong with it. my guess is that they were sick of people leaving scanned items around the scanner. must be rather annoying for the staff to clear it up...
I thought that yesterday, might be hlepful if they at least had a basket where people were able to leave items, rather than just on the shelves.ChelseaGirl wrote: »Mixed fortune for me this morning...

Had exactly the same issue with steak yesterday (wanted 2 packs, one for dinner today and one for the freezer) but old trout at CS was really really nasty so got a refund. Sign said nothing about stickered stock, inclusions or exclusions, nor was there anything on the shelf so I did email CS when I got home. Thing is, i wasn't even really fusses about DTD, if I'd have just been given the diff, 4 pieces of steak would have cost me about £6 and I was more than happy to pay that.
Old trout initally denied any promo, then aid it was only stickered stock...odd how she knew that if she wasn't even aware of the promo 5mins earlier?Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

i think you've got the wrong end of the stick.
she doesn't want to complain about the helpful manager. she wants to complain about the first store she visited; more specifically, the refusal of DTD on the steaks she bought.:grouphug:Official MSE canny forumite and HUKD VIP badge member
