ChelseaGirl wrote: »Mixed fortune for me this morning...
Went to a Tesco Extra, picked up bacon and sirloin. 'Discovered' overcharge after I had paid and duly queued up at CS.
Mentioned the bacon overcharge first and CS lady went to check the bacon. She came back and complained to her colleague that 'they've put out the wrong stock'. She apologised and happily refunded me £12 (bought 4 packs of bacon).
THEN, I mentioned the sirloin and she immediately turned trouty and said, 'Oh no, it's only stickered stock. I checked this morning and we don't have any. We haven't had any delivered'. Hmm, kind of strange for a CS assistant to be checking (and remembering) exactly what had been delivered overnight... I said that there was no empty space on the shelf where the half price stock should be, but she wouldn't have it. She just insisted that the stickered stock would be amongst the 'normal' stuff. Not sure how they would be able to justify charging two different amounts for the same product... (Insisted on a full refund for the steak, and trout insisted on taking the points off of my clubcard:rotfl:)
Zipped round to a smaller branch and saw the steak sign outside. Searched for the bacon but it doesn't look as though they stock it. Found one lonely pack of sirloin and plucked up the courage to try again. Well the CS staff couldn't have been nicer. The manager was called and he went outside to check the poster. While he was doing so, I had a lovely chat with the young male CS assistant about last night's TV.
The manager came back in to the store with the poster and said he had checked the shelf, and there didn't even appear to be any half price sirloin or any SELs where it should have been. He said he would remove the poster to stop anyone else being overcharged.
They got a calculator to work out what half price should be (and I panicked slightly before asking whether I would get DTD). The manager was so nice, and said of course and that he was sorry for the inconvenience caused. Both the manager and the CS assistant were so friendly and polite. It was a pleasure to shop in that store - and get free steak of course!
So, I got one pack of free steak from one store, and four packs of bacon from another.
Thanks smmjh11 for the heads up regarding the bacon, and for the sirloin OP. :T
Just wondering whether to complain to HO regarding the steak excuses at the first store I visited, and if so, whether to mention that I got the steak at the second store with no problems. Hmm...
EEK, Sorry for the essay....:D
I would just leave it...I tried 2 stores last week and 1st one said it wasnt that Sirloin steak.. by time I go to 2nd store they said the same...was so fed up rang HO whilst still instore and even HO agreed with them...
so I would just leave it.. At end of day I think they do stand on the side of their staff .. well up to a point!!0 -

I would say get the James Martin set. It is a classic white set and looks lovely much nicer than the blue and black pepper one. Loads of the latter in my store but no sel. Also regarding the Sabatier knives they are not that brilliant as Sabatier used to be the top knives but they sold the name to be used by anyone. Still if they are free then why not.
Just cooking lunch with free Leg of Lamb ( free with DTD ) cooked in some of the lovely pans I got in the 20% glitch and the knives. My store is expanding over the next couple of days so will be in there to check no DTD turns up. Managed to get couple of Playdoh for the present box yesterday.0 -
I mentioned a while back that it seems T's are removing the price checkers. I'm noticing this more and more in stores that I venture to.
Do you reckon we should all complain to HO about this?I hate twitches, but I LOVE glitches!!!0 -
I just wanted to say how much I enjoy reading this thread. I love hearing about the deals that people get. Everytime I drive past a T store I start laughing to myself about the DTDs that you guys all seem to get. It's made me think about going all of the time to look for glitches etc but I'm always worried about wondering around & then not buying anything as I think it must look really bad walking out without buying anything.
I still haven't found any DTDs but if/when I do I'll be straight on here to share them & in the meantime I'll continue to read about your adventures, if you don't mind?
Last time I was in T I noticed there were a lot of SELs with dates of 04/09/11 so it I'll have to try & remember to go & have a look on 5th & see if I can get any good deals.Aug NSDs: 18/[STRIKE]6 [/STRIKE] [STRIKE]15[/STRIKE] 18
Sep NSDs: 16/15

I'm a newbie so if I do something wrong or don't do something please let me know so I can learn.0 -

nothing wrong with walking out without buying anythingI do it a lot when I don't find what I'm looking for... Don't feel like you need to buy something when you're there... it's your money and don't spend it if you don't want/need to
and yes, next dates to remember are 23/08 04/09 06/090 -

Tomorrow as well, if you are after the sirloin steak - just check that the banners/swing sign are stll outside. More quick cook lamb chops today - 627g £9.00 on pack but £6.00 on sel. Different store so may be national. HTH0 -

All varieties in stock at Knocknagoney today for 18p.
The only reason they're in stock is because I didn't clear the shelfI may have 20 cases of beans and around 6 each of the ravioli, chicken pasta and the carbonnara. Thankfully DS loves them all - except the ravioli as we've not tried it yet.
So I have competition from Raven and Karenha for Knocknagoney! Bring it on0
