i wouldnt have the guts myself, but was wondering if anyone has taken an in date SEL and gone back a week later when its expired and the price has gone up, paid for the item and taken it to CS with the SEL taken earlier claiming that was the price shown when u just bought the item???

it just makes me wonder as iv scanned practically everything in 5 of my nearest tescos and all iv managed to get is some headfones that had a sel of 7.49, charged 9.99 so got em for 5

You don't need 'guts' to try this one - you just need to be happy to be carted off down the local nick and made to answer some very awkward questions! Some of us sail closer to the wind than others - but this is going straight to the eye of the storm.

It is easy the DTD double the difference is based on the SEL shelf edge label and the actual price charged, so if the SEL says £10 and you get charged £25 at the till the DTD is £30 (£15 overcharge x 2)

Most of the DTD come from out of date offers the offers are normally on a yellow SEL and have an expiry date on them, when they expire staff don't always change them or the product is in the clearence section or in 2 places and they only change 1 set of SEL, the main posters on this thread give very good information on expired offers, but if you have the time or fancy something on offer you can just keep an eye out on the label to see when the offer ends.

Thanks for that. Does this DTD apply to all their stores or just the grocery based ones?

I see people prefer scanners in the shop, obviously, can the self checkout not be used as a scanner?

  • Thought I spotted a great DTD earlier, Denby mushroom 12 piece 'Price Cut' £19.00 from £38.00 - Thought this might scan at £85 as stated on website!!

Scanned at £19.00 but think I might keep as it is really quite cheap

There are NO DTD's around at the mo, it's really quite poo.

Discovered another sign (on a stand this time) outside another local Mr T's advertising the cheap sirloin.

STILL didn't have the guts to go and buy it and demand DTD - I just seem to have visions of the CS staff insisting that I've bought the wrong steak, and me standing there looking like a right idiot!

I really appreciate all the glitches and DTDs that you lovely people put on here, and I'm trying my best to add to the list, but without much luck so far.

Hopefully, when the children go back to school I'll have more time to spend DTD hunting. It's so difficult with two bored, whingey children trailing around behind me loudly asking whether I'm going to get an item free as soon as I pick it up! x

  • Hi there! Today at Mr. T's I got Loyd Grossman Pasta Bake SEL reduced to £0.97 but scanned as £0.47 so went back and picked up lots more! Hope it's nice!
    2nd Purse #036 £46.69/£50.00 :) 3rd Purse £30.02
  • Sorry to burst your bubble but if its anything like Grossman's Thai red curry it will be absolutely disgusting!
