poor you... why didn't you make her sign your receipt with something like "wrong sel on display with the item, dtd refused"? now she probably took it off... however you can still try to phone HO and see what they tell you...?

I'm sorry, but the barcode defines the product - if it's displayed on the SEL and different to the barcode on the item you've purchased, then it isn't the same - this is the first thing CS will check and gives them a get out of jail free card - "someone else put it there, Sir, probably those school kids....".

The only way you'll win those is if the description is vague enough to match something else without the barcode being included - I once got a bottle of Talisker whiskey on exactly that - it was meant to be a much cheaper one, but didn't specify the age or barcode, so I had a punt and won.

Pick the battles you've got a chance to win, especially if you're in it for the long haul. Arguing for DtD on a product with a different barcode is raising your profile, getting you remembered at CSD and closer to a store ban.

I disgree if the description matches (including weight or pack size) and there is not another item next to it matching the description then I would expect dtd. It is not up to the customer to check that barcodes match - pricing should be clear and unambiguous. Barcodes on SELs are there for Tesco employees to use: to make pricing correctly easier for them; to check prices using a pricing gun; to record low or nil stocks.

Have to admit, was a bit nervous too - biggest dtd I've tried, and wasn't thinking fast! Have sent an email , thought it was worth a try :)

I agree with floflo. I've had a few DTD's where the barcode is different but the product description is the same. It happened the other day with a bottle of water. The bottle I bought was 750ml but the label was for a 500ml size. Someone had put them all out in the wrong place. This was an accidental DTD though. I also had it a while back on the coffee sachets, packs of 7. Someone had put the SEL in the wrong place and it should have been for the 3 packs. No problem got my dtd.

well i am with SFC on this one, although it may appear shoddy work
from tesco as SFC says they can claim people have moved stock
and you will raise your profile and eventually get banned from stores.
There have been examples on here in the last week or so of people
hiding stock that is wrongly priced for others to profit from(think it was megabloks)this is treading a thin line. They do watch people on the security cameras once they have claimed a couple of DTD's.
It was people getting too carried away with R+R that got it banned
same as being to greedy on couponing.

I do see what your saying but when I got DTD on the water and the barcode was different their were about 40 bottles of water and it was pretty obvious I hadnt moved them! It was an error on their part and I was given DTD without even asking.
