Got a pretty good DTD and RTD today - all will be explained

Tried all number of phones but most of the end dates were today. I was hoping maybe someone got ahead of themselves with the pricing but alas no. Ah well! Looked at the RTC stuff and saw some Portable Speaker Docks for iPod/iPhone. RTC label said £29 but they scanned at £49.97. Got 2 and used a £5 off £50 till spit as well. Paid and noticed my items cost me more than I thought ;) so trotted off to CS. Initially the SA refunded one of the docks and was then going to charge me the SEL price. I pointed to the pretty blue board behind her and explained very politely that I should be getting DTD. She made a call to the manager who said that they would only DTD one of the items and the other one would be RTD. I asked nicely for the manager to come down and have a wee chat. When she arrived down she said she'd never heard of DTD for two identical items in her training and they don't do it in her store. I've had it numerous times (2 lots of 2 mega bloks, 4 incorrect SEL items in one go and 2 pairs of kids socks) but she said that it's not policy. Asked where it said on the board and she said rightly that it didn't and that maybe it should.

So I take it I've been trouted :rotfl: The SEL wasn't dated, I used a normal till and not SS so this is the newest and most pathetic lie yet. She explained that I had been reimbursed for the both by getting DTD on one. I enquired then as to why if I bought only one would I get DTD yet I buy 2 and DTD only applies for one ... cue tumbleweed. Was then told that it was because they were in the same transaction so I asked what they would have done if it were 2 transactions to which they mumbled and said then I would have gotten 2 DTDs.

So anyway, once I get it all sorted it should work out as:

    SEL £29.00 RTC
    Scanned £49.97
    Cost after DTD £8.03
    Cost after till spit £5.53
Cost after 98 cc points £4.55!!!!

    Result :T

SEL - shelf edge label - the label on the shelf that tells you the price
DTD - double the difference - if things don't add up, we'll give you double the difference**

**if we feel like it; on only one item if you got more than one; unless the SEL is out of date; unless the amount is too big; unless the item barcode doesn't match the SEL yet the price & description match. I think that covers all the lies so far :D:D

best way to start is follow this thread for a while! i only found my DTD by checking all the yellow sels (Shelf edge label) and the expiry date on each,if its a date in the past try and get the item scanned preferably with a self scanner some shop have them, lots of people will wait until the day after the price change (think its tuesday) and go in for the kill!

    hth

What you were told, caz2703, is absolute !!!!!!!!! I'd be typing out a furious email to CS right now and demanding compensation on top of the DTD for my time, effort and money spent thus far. I have got DTD on more than one identical item in each transaction as this is their policy!

Don't worry Adam, I was 99.9999999999999% sure I was right but I remained polite knowing that the CS assistant and manager would be geting re-trained :p I phoned CS last week to complain about the nasty trout I encountered but funnily enough, they've never phoned back. Am I better emailing and if so, which address please?

As this is a 'Tesco misprices' thread and as I'm sure you all use the price-checker system, may I draw your attention to this?

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3364904

I would like to draw fellow MSEers attention to the possibility of mistakes in the price-ckeck calculations, also because I'd be curious to know.... since 'if things don't add up, we'll give you DTD'......... should they give DTD if their price-checker doesn't add up?

I wimped out and phoned CD instead :o Figured if I got nowhere with them then I could write a particularly nasty email. Lady on phone was very nice and the remaining difference is being sent out on a gift card. The CS lady didn't ask but I did make sure she had a note of the store & name of the 'CS Manager' I dealt with yesterday. As the lady pointed out, it could have been a pint of milk I was overcharged on so the fact that it was expensive items makes no difference. DTD is DTD - no caveats that she mentioned!

Will save my scathing email for when I need it most as I'm sure a more deserving occassion will crop up and I don't want black listed until I've had my fill :rotfl:
