I needed to purchase Pedigree 3kg dog food and was pleasantly surprised to find it was reduced from £6.99 to £5.00 as stated on the SEL.
On the bottom shelf, in the space where 15kg bags should have been but SEL stated out of stock, there were 2 bags of 3kgs marked with a printed 100% free on the bag.
Snapped this up quick smart and when we took them to the till they scanned at £6.99. CSA told us to go to customer services with our receipt and we may even get DTD!
Off we went to be met by a grumpy CSA, who argued that it was another offer, told my disabled OH togo with her to show her where he got them from and then came back saying she'll call the manager. A young whipper snapper boy came along without saying a word, took 1 bag away and then came back with a newly printed label showing £6.99 for 100% free.
We wanted DTD as per the price promise.
Grumpy woman then proceeded to argue and even said that if we were to go to Trading Standards, she would not even give us the £1.99 per bag we had been overcharged and would also take the 2 bags of dog food of us. We had already purchased the dog food.
Who's right here?Amanda

You should get double the difference on for each of the 2 bags of food bought i.e. 2x(2x1.99) as it was the store not putting out the right label as proven by the fact the manager came back with the new correct label showing 100% free.0

Resently I went to my new Tescos store and purchased my shopping. I did this straight from work , went home had tea then checked my reciept as normal. This was when I noticed something for £10. On checking I realised 1 of my bottles of milk went through as White Rum. I returned to the store and they didn't believe me. I was told to go home and return with my milk (Four 6 pint bottles) This I did with a bit of a moan. I then had to have my milk rescanned. What a surprise 4 bottles of milk. Then I had to wait at the same till I was served on. Again 4 bottles of milk. If it hadn't been for the staff member that served me being there I dont know what I would have done. But I remained calm. He confirmed I had not purchased an alcohol. I finally got the difference refunded about 45 mins later.
Now my question is this should I have got more as thid is slightly different from the wrong priced item.
Thanks for the help.0 -

So they charged you £1.99 for the 100% advertised as FREE?? I certainly wouldn't have let this one go!A bargain is something you don't need at a price you can't resist0 -

Overcharged at the till (DTD) = YES
Not in Watford since the beginning of the month. There is a sign at CS clearly stating that you will only get your money back on an overcharge, not DTD.0 -
Ah - same here, just checked.
Strange, I'm sure someone posted recently that it was still working, I wonder if it still scans?
As far as I am aware, most of the coupons work after their expiry date. I used one the other day that expired in oct 10 (p.s before anyone starts, I had 2vouchers one in date&1 not, scanned the wrong one and it accepted it, so thought oh well!!)
If you want to use it, i'd go through SS tills, that way you don't get the overzealous SA!0 -

I can't believe that a store deciding to con/per-vert national policy on the hoof would be well regarded at all.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

Hmmmm - thanks bevmk127.
I think this is definitely worth running with if it's a sign of change by stealth.
Possibly mgrs are being told to cut costs/make economies/eliminate error and are resorting to any means...CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:
