I bought a Karcher Pressure washer tonight in Tesco. It was on the shelf at £89 but went through at £199.
I was refused DTD as they said the ticket offer date expired yesterday and that that DTD is only a goodwill gesture. They only offered the difference back. I wanted the pressure washer anyway but by principle I refused that and said I would speak to CS. Was I right to do so?

I normally take the refund, then phone CS and tell them what happened....they've always been really good & sent me DTD in the form of a Tesco Moneycard, which is fine by me! :T

I have a question about items that are reduced for quick sale please.
In my local small tesco they had quite a few food items reduced bbe ending today. I bought quite a few bits that I can freeze. Most of it was at least 75% off and a real bargain.
I got charged over £10 and I thought as I left the shop that I knew it shouldnt have been that much and checked my receipt and saw they had charged me full price on some loaves of bread and went back in and got my refund on the difference.
I was still querying the total when i got home and checked everything against my receipt. Sure enough I found I had been charged twice for one item and full price on another item that was £3..39 reduced to 85p.
Firstly can I take my receipt back with the item and still get a refund the next day? Would I be able to ask for DTD or does this only apply to normal items reduced not whoopsies?
I should have been watching more carefully really!

DTD applies to any item they make an error on including reduced items. I would take your receipt back with the items and stand your ground if they try and tell you that it is too late. If they refuse tell them you will write to Sir Terry Leahy (the chairman) to complain, that usually makes them change their mind. If it doesn't write to him, you'll prob get a gift card for the amount.

Also, why should you have been watching more carefully? I always do, but we shouldn't have to.
Be thankful for what you have because it could all be taken away tomorrow.;)

Just take the packaging back. Don't let them have it back, DTD is more profitable to you ;)

As Edindevon has said, you ARE entitled to DTD.
Definitely pursue this - HO Freephone no. is 0800505555 or email:
terry.leahy@uk.tesco.com

GIven that the big blue board is headed - 'Our Price PROMISE.....', the response you received is even more untenable.
Difference of opinion with gemma:I would not take the refund then and there, giving them leverage to say it had something of the 'full and final' acceptance about it.
Good luck!

got a nice little double the difference refund this morning on kids toys

spears games crazy bugs and catch me if you can, 99p sel but on way out realised that they'd gone through at 4.97 each

very pleased to have finally got a dtd refund having seen it mentioned on this forum so many times

a couple of weeks ago tesco were clearing out their "junior" range of toys and games, to rebrand them. they are now all "spears games" toys, but basically the same things just in new packaging.
in my local store, they have all been priced at £4.97, except for the crazy bugs game, and catch me if you can game - both were still priced at 99p.
i picked up one of each for my stash of kids party presents

once i'd been through the till, i checked to see if they were 99p but they'd both gone through at £4.97
so off to customer services where the lady said no way would they be 99p, but politely checked anyway and came back saying i was right, and offered me a refund of the difference. i said i had just read the board with the dtd price promise so would she honour that for these items, and she says yes, she'd forgotten to mention it (how convenient)
took about 15 mins, but in the end i got the 2 games for 99p each and 2 refunds of £7.96 from tesco

i think that means they paid me £13.94 to take them away (unless my maths is a bit rubbish).

they removed the labels in that store, but worth looking out for if you're shopping today.

Well done floart - just a useful tip for the future.
GOLDEN RULE - AlWAYS ACCOMPANY CS BACK TO THE ITEM. Many of them just remove offending evidence and return denying ovarcharge.

yes that's a good point... have had that happen before when cs denies a price i clearly saw and have been overcharged... so this time i took pics of the items on the shelf with their labels on my phone before i approached the cs desk, just in case... fortunately had an honest helpful lady on cs desk so didn't need my evidence :D

I didn't know there were any honest, helpful staff left in Tesco, especially at the CS desk.
