Awww - bless you all! I'm still here, just been spending more time on the no more toiletries thread and have been through my quiet time of the month so far as savings etc are concerned so not much to say on this one.
Now time for a bit of an update though.....
Payday was Monday so the savings all went into place on Tuesday and the signature is now updated. Over the past few weeks OH's car has been serviced and then MoT'd (passed first time once Simon the lovely mechanic had a fiddle about with the headlamps!) and mine has been serviced also so fingers crossed that's the car expediture over for the time being and we can now start letting the savings in that account build up again with a view to the next "major" spend being the insurance in August.
The extra money in the pot from the lack of council tax & water rates for two months has been paid against the mortgage - which had the effect of knocking another month off the MF date! :T Next extra bit to be slung at that will be a refund we're due on some insurance policies relating to the mortgage. I also need to get my backside into gear and sort out changing those policies for something at a better cost - we've just stuck with what we got advised to take when we took out the mortgage and with hindsight it looks like that advice wasn't the greatest. Once the refunds are in place I'll look at getting that sorted out.
There will be nothing extra to go into the savings this month due to our holiday - only a week to go now and I just can't wait! I switched off and defrosted the second freezer this morning - once we're back from holiday we'll give consideration to stocking up with some meat again either via a deal from the farm we visit for the farmers market (they are a pig farm so some lovely pork might be a nice option) or possibly another lamb....... I was determined to get the second freezer off before we went away - so it's nice to have ticked another thing off the list! This close to holiday time there are lists-a-plenty around the place at the moment so plenty to be keeping me busy!
The no more toiletries challenge is still going well - I have only fallen off the wagon once on my promise to buy nothing new during lent, with the Tesco shampoo glitch, but I have no regrets about going for that one and I have turned my back on temptation on a number of occasions. I seem to have used up a fair amount of stuff - the telling moment for me was when I managed get all the shampoo and conditioner from the glitch into the bathroom cabinet AND close the door! I must be winning! I also have all manner of mini and sachet-sized treats stuffed into my sponge bag to take away with me!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

EH, that sounds great! Both the mortgage overpayment and the toiletries challenge. Um, remind us where you're going? Very good idea to get the 2nd freezer turned off, no point running two when you're away.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

All sounding absolutely fantastic...it must be exciting having a holiday to look forward to.0
