your cake and chinese sound yummy. We went for a treat chinese tonight, not really in the mood for cooking after dad collapsed again yesterday.
loved the sun today, made me start washing everything in sighti treated us to some new bedding yesterday to go with the new bed, and wanted to rinse it through. Now need to figure out how to get black mould off the nets, put them through on a short wash with some glo white but it didn't work so i guess i should start haunting the OS boards.
Wish i could declutter this place though. At the moment everytime i go in someone's house i think, oh this is a lovely calm uncluttered place, but when i come into our place i just sink.0 -
Sorry to hear about your Dad LT - how is he now?
Black mould on nets......best treatment I've found is one of the Mould & Mildew sprays, but be warned you do need to ventilate the room you use it in REALLY well or you'll have eyes streaming and be coughing your lungs up in no time! I always do mine in the bathroom - lay the curtains in the bath with the badly affected areas on the base of the bath. Spray well and leave for no longer than the container says. Then wash as normal in the machine. Something you might also try if you have walls affected with the mould is a chemical called Sodium Metabisulphite - it's a food grade sterilising agent and we've found it very effective for reducing the mould reappearing on the walls. It's not a permanent solution but may help for a while. You will hopefully be able to get it in small quantities in the larger Boots stores or other shops that do home brewing equipment, we have it because we use it at the beer festival for sterilising taps and equipment. Clean the walls down thoroughly with a dilute detergent, leave to dry, then spray on the dilute solution of Sod. Met. wipe, and leave to dry.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Hi everyone, Sorry about your news LT. I did a quite google ref the nets and found this: http://www.stainexpert.co.uk/GettingRidOfMouldAndMildew.html
My old house always had lots of mould so now hard bl**dy annoying it is. Best of luck.
Have fun today EH at Chinese New Year. I've within travelling distance but never been! Feel really tired today (around a friends yesterday). Made me remember (ALERT: CHEESY MOMENT NOW APPROACHING) - how important friends are.
It's good to be with like-minded people on the local foods front. Am really lucky in that I can get my hands on local potatoes (few fields away!) and fairly local bacon. It sounds daft but I enjoy it all the more! I'm finding I'm looking at the "heritage" of stuff more and more now. For instance, all the cat food and toys come now from a local garden centre - hey they are independent and stock bigger (more economical) sizes of food. I found I was even looking at the label where the cat toys came from :rotfl:Sadly I didn't get to the butcher yesterday so supermarket meat todaybut will be free range
. I must get in the habit of popping past the butchers during the week, note to self.
Look forward to hearing about Chinese new year celebrations EH. :ADeclutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

thanks for all the info about mould, will have a look for what you've been talking about. The mould really does do my head in. we've got loads of coats of anti damp paint, air the rooms but we're suffering from the gits upstairs who won't sort the boards/guttering/roof and the water comes down the cavity and soaks in the house.0

LT - your flat is rented, yes? You need to find out who owns the freehold and go direct to them or their agents re the damp problem. You simply must not continue to live like that - your health will be affected. The people upstairs either rent like you do, or own the property (but most likely not the freehold) - either way, someone, somewhere, has a duty to maintain the property. Good luck. How's your Dad now?
mineallmine sorry to hear about your friend. I'll cross my fingers for everything to turn out OK for her. Funny you saying about looking for local provenance on things - there was a programme on TV the other week which reckoned that a good propertion of the potatoes we buy here in the winter come from places like Egypt - I found myself looking at MrEH in disbelief as I've never had a problem getting East Anglian spuds right round the year, aparently though it's for the people that want new potatoes in maincrop season and etc.
Chinese new year was great fun! Bit quieter than it has been in the past due to the weather I imagine. I managed to grab a huge bag of noodles in the chinese supermarket for £3.65 too - should last us ages! There's a picture on my blog if anyone wants to be nosy (link should be in my profile).
Right - off for a shower now, then bed as I'm shattered and yawning my head off!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
