There are a few of us on here being DFW for the mortgage, isn't there. I started out on the MFW board but never entirely felt that I belonged over there - because we're not throwing "everything" at the mortgage like a lot of them are, I guess......we're working towards a life where we don't need to take on more debt, as well as getting the mortgage gone sooner than planned.
KC - we've been in this flat for 6 years now, and intended to overpay for 4.5 of those years before finally getting our act together. I now have to try not to think of how much further we would have been ahead if we'd done, rather than talking about!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

hope you don't mind me popping in. Your username caught my eye ~ i'm a Hebridean although i don't live as far south as you're planning to move to
Just want to wish you good luck! although sounds like your doing great so far!0 -
Its a hard lesson to learn, isn't it - awful to look back and think how much more you could've done if you'd realised.... still, we can only do the best at the time, I really don't think that way any more.
You've caught my interest now, tho - who else is an mfw on the dfw board (apart from Hypno, of course!).2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Ahhh, so Lewis, or Harris then? Or possibly Bernera or Scalpay I suppose! Thanks for the good wishes - it's ambitious and somewhat scary - all common sense says that Lewis would be a better choice for us to live eventually than the Uists, but we simply feel more comfortable further down. The whole chain of islands are so beautiful though - you live in a wonderful place!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Taxi, and there are a few others who are planning to OP once they have got their debt killed off I believe. I know I've come across a few others when I've been browsing.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Oh absolutely! If we're counting people who *want* to be mfws, thats me too - in fact, cos I'm self employed, I have higher savings than most (which has come in very handy during the collapse of my business
) I recently cashed in an ISA and stuck it into the mortgage - now the interest goes towards a repayment of the mortgage, important since the overpayment vehicle  is so carp.........

I think there's v few throwing everything at it EH - most achieve a good balance with a fair few treats along the way, but all trying to get those as cheaply as possible.
Mortgage debt is still a debt so I feel comfortable on both boards (although diary is on MFW) but if anything I feel more comfortable on MFW. On the DFW there are broadly speaking 2 main types of debtors - 1 lot have their debts under control & are paying off quite comfortably with excess income, they are on the board for motivation and tips. The 2nd type are struggling with excessive debt/minimum income, illness, redundancy. Every 10p on scratchcards has a real impact (or at least when coupled with all the other little 5p's, 20p's etc) and whilst I admire them so much I haven't got their motivation & feel guilty about my 'can't be *rsed for 10p' attitude so don't read that many diaries.
TBH there's a good number of barking mad folks on both boards so that suits me fineA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

I'm paying debt off and mortgage off side by side...my plan is 41/2 years really but the challenge just gives me a boost...don't think I'll achieve it all in 3 years but will have a jolly good go....there are always things that crop up that we have to deal with ie new boiler.0

Blimey EH yesterday was a busy day! Puts me to shame - I always feel like weekends are my time "off" as in taking a rest (not going crazy with money I should say!) but you've been so productive - great!
I keep meaning to get to grips with Quidco esp. with Christmas coming up... Have designated this upcoming week as my Christmas shopping week so about time I started using my account!
So what is MrEH getting for Christmas - anything else in addition to the DVD?Still not worked out what to get my OH yet!
