LOL - I'm gradually getting bits stashed for MrEH - he's got a book (free book of the day from Bangzo a few weeks back - a rugby one!
) and the DVD of course, plus I'm putting together a "years supply of" box for him - the idea being to get together all manner of bits and bobs he uses through the year and would normally have to buy for himself - at the moment a large chunk of his monthly money goes on paying off some debt so not having to buy toiletries etc will give him a nice chunk of spare income over the year - so far it's got talc, toothpaste, doedorant, shaving oil, razorblades, toothbrushes, soap, shower stuff etc. Not sure what else I'll get him yet - I know he needs new rugby socks so if I can get to the club at some stage when he's not about I'll try and get those.....other than that I'd best do some thinking!
Done a bit of an update on my signature - it will change again tomorrow when the majority of the savings money feeds across into the other accounts. Then there will be a drop again sometime in December when the Tesco CC needs paying off.
On the subject of CC's I need to consider applying for a 0% card as I need to buy a new flashgun for my camera and I'm still planning to get the iPod Touch after christmas.....it makes sense to get both of those things before the VAT rate goes back up again too. I know Halifax are doing a 9 month 0% offer for purchases at the moment and there is £20 cashback on that through Quidco so that might be the way to go.
Other stuff.....the chicken I roasted for dinner yesterday needs the meat stripping off its carcass and then the bones cooked up for stock - I'll do that tomorrow evening. Meal plan is all done for this week - the slow cooker will be out again for Wednesday night to do a bit pot of rabbit stew which will do us Thursday night too. I've got the reservation made for the hotel in Poland next October when MrEH and I go back for the speedway GP, and are paying less than we paid this year as a result of booking so early, and I also remembered and looked out a guide book to Ireland that I got in the charity shop ages ago which has a big section on Dublin so that's a result too!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

LOL Karmacat had to chuckle, me veggie also (as are my two DDs, but baby - well that's a bone of contention:rolleyes:) but OH likes when I make a meat version of whatever veggie stuff I cook so I'm trying to pick up tips on being economical with cooking meat but just for him (and sort of for baby!) as I don't really know what I'm doing tbh!
That's a fab idea EH for MrEH's present with the toiletries etc. Not decided yet what to get my OH, I like to buy him clothes but there's no surprise factor there (he knows me too well!) and I do want to get him something he'll like and use, although his request for a Playstation I think is a bit out of my price range at the mo:eek:Dealing with my debts!Currently overpaying Virgin cc -balance Jan 2010 @ 1985.65Now @ 703.63

Hmmm, probably a good job you skipped the bit about the chicken KC as the menu plan for the week gets altogether fluffier from today onwards.....!
I'm a committed carnivore I'm afraid - do make sure that the welfare standards are high though - the chicken was very happy when it was alive, I promise! Jo - can't be easy trying to do meat for OH when you're veggie yourself - hats off to you.
Some savings have gone across today so another update on the sig, the credit card statement has also arrived so I need to get OH to transfer his share over and then check for any shortfall. It's slightly higher than I was hoping but the Dublin flights are on there and so are a few christmas bits so not too bad. Cashback earnt to date on that card sits at £73 odd - not bad earnings on money we would have spent anyway!
I need to contact the car insurance people in the next week or so to add the Breakdown cover on for my car as the Renault assist cover runs out on the 29th. The money for it is sitting in the car savings account though which is a nice feeling. Tax disc arrived today and is now in my handbag waiting to get put in the screen tomorrow.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I love the concept of fluffy = carnivore! Actually, that kind of bears out my experience - when I had my cats done, you know, "done", and they had those cone-like collar things, I definitely remember getting the catfood on my fingers and letting them lick/bite it off. Very fluffy2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Evening all,
Good to hear about EH's progress, impressive stuff. I think you're making me realise EH that I can save even more (already vastly increased recently). Also, our savings pig (campervan) currently has over £30 in it. Not sure what we'll spend it on but shows that the shrapnel of coppers and stuff soon adds up.

savings coppers was the first thing i taught OH when i met him. He used to drop them or put them in charity boxes, but i gave him a tin to put them in and every few months he'd let me count them up and take them with me usually a fiver each time.0

Ahhh, yes, nothing funnier than a cat with a bucket on after having stitches trying to eat from a bowl on the floor, is there. Actually, yes, as I recall, there is.....it's watching the same cat trying to get through a gap in a doorway that her eyes are telling her is wide enough, but isn't actually quite as wide as the bucket....."Clunk.....Clunk.....Clunk.....MIAOW!" :rotfl: I'm feeling extremely uncharitable towards Her Majesty this evening as she woke me up at 5am this morning (after the wind had woken me up previously!) pleading to be let out. Not on your life! I refreshed her memory on a couple of points, namely that she had a litter tray ready for use, and that cats have scruffs of necks largely to enable them to be picked up and dropped into litter trays at 5am!
Signature refreshed again this evening - I'm itching to tranfer enough from elsewhere to make it the round figure I want it to be, but with christmas coming up this month will be tight so it's best I don't.
I've applied for the Halifax CC this evening too and been accepted :j -it's funny, even though I know that these days there are no issues with my credit rating I still get ridiculously nervous when applying for something like that. At least that will mean that the flashgun can be bought with the cost of it spread over a decent while. Hopefully the £20 will track through Quidco for that too. I also signed up for Sky Songs on the special offer from Martin's email - I've downloaded 8 songs so far and will wait to see what else comes up before the trial ends for the last 2. I nearly got several of them on itunes the other week - glad I waited now!
I think I might take the idea of cancelling the order I placed for the Harry Potter DVD and reordering on the new offer in case it wasn't on the pre-order deal before. I know it was at one stage, but by the time I ordered it I was less certain. It definately is now, though. Might get the Take That CD as well as I fancy that one and it will effectively be free.
Heating is still off, but MrEH did say he was a bit chilly at one stage in the night. I was fine, and normally I feel the cold more than he does, but I have chucked the fleece on the bed tonight just in case. Looks like the termps are due to be fairly warm into next week so we'll see how things go. The experiment with leaving the immersion on so it comes on in the cheap period each night has worked well - we'll stick with that.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Aargh - drives me mad when I see people dropping coppers on the ground. I made 10p a while back on the strength of following a couple of teenage girls round Tesco as they casually scattered 1p and 2p bits around the store....!MrEH has always been good at stuff like that - I tease him about going round with his eyes fixed to the ground as he is always finding coins in the street! Last year he picked up somewhere about £6.50 over the year just from the street.
I love our savings pigs - I have one just for the savings for the Good Food show (which will be emptying out in a weeks time!) one for all change 50p and under which will be holiday spending cash, and I have a tin for myself too which I stash a few ££ in here and there......comes in useful from time to time!I collect cross-eyed piggy banks too so it's always nice to find uses for them!
