The car is on a 55 plate, what if I parked it carelessly and it accidentally grazed the wall causing damage to the fender and bonnet?

Rather than get hung for a Lamb etc
Why don't you claim for the Motorsport engine that was nicked and the Armani suit that was hanging on the rear grab handle at the same time

  • my god you people are such flatulous vaginas. ciano125, whilst jumping onto your high horse and sniffing your farts in the breeze you managed to contradict yourself in the space of one sentance - .."a resounding no, you can't claim for stone chips on your insurance that were already there when you bought the car...if you were to graze it against a wall, accidentally or otherwise, you might get the car repaired" - so, regardless of the cost, it is possible. You just wanted to get another dig in.
I mean people lets not have a dig at somebody who is not !!!!!footing around some unethical faceless MN company who wouldnt think twice to stiffing any of their 'valued' customers in a second if they thought they could make a quick buck. The insurance industry, it is well known, needs a massive overhaul. i mean the !!!!-nuts that sit at the top of the company are earning 100's of times more than they should, and your complaining about some guy trying to get the scratches taken off his car! if he dosent claim and then he does genuinely have a dink in the area of question, which is then fixed on a claim whats the difference? you say fraud, i say you have sympathy for the devil.

Two wrongs don't make a right.

BTW if you do accidentally have a prang, and the bumper needs respraying and the assessor notes that it's full of stone chips and of generally shoddy condition, the T&Cs will allow them to make a deduction for "betterment", which is the increased value of the car now that it isn't full of stone chips.

So you reply to a thread from 15 months ago, how completely random of you, think the op got his answer, you can't claim for a respray unless its accident damage when you owed the car.
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

    Get a life.

It wouldn't be called fraud if it was done accidentally as I stated.

What you are suggesting is 100% insurance fraud.

I take it the court papers shall be in the post?

You pay £350 for your insurance, per year. On what possible planet is it fair the insurance should have to pay £750 for your respray?
Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.

To respray the front end, ask around and ask for the local paintshop that is best, usually not doing insurance work and not "dealer approved". They will have a waiting list (beware if they don't) and a nice easy spray with no accident or rust damage to fix should be well under £500.
Beware acid or paint stripper tricks as they often, quite quickly, bloom through the repaired paint later.
