  • Tesco cancelled my book order also, which would not be too bad except that they LIED

I ordered the book then received an email the same day telling me that it would take 4 weeks for delivery as there was no stock available. (LIE)

8 Days later they cancel my order, but then add if I want to pay more I can have it straight away suddenly the stock has appeared as if by magic !

Mistakes I accept but NOT the blatant LIES.
  • As usual, if it seems to be to good to be true it usually is! Or was it just a ploy to get people to sign up so they can bombard them with adverts!!

    Dear Customer,

Thank you for your recent book order for Spain ISBN: 9781741790009 from Tesco.com.
Unfortunately, there was an error in the price at the time that you placed your order, and as a result we have had to cancel the book in your order. You have not been charged for this book.
Please refer to our Terms and Conditions on the Tesco.com entertainment site for further details of our order acceptance policy.
If you would like to re-order the book, it will be available again this week on our website at the correct price £7.99.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
    Kind regards,
    Tesco Customer Service

    I got that email too
  • I sent Tesco a polite e-mail:

    "Dear Sir/Madam.

I must admit I'm very disappointed with your cancellation of my order. Even though you mis-priced this item, it would have been nice, if you as a matter of goodwill would have honoured the orders already placed.
    Kind regards, ***** ********"

    This was Tesco's reply:

    "Dear *********,

Re: Your Tesco.com order placed on Wednesday 29 April 2009 (order no. ********)

We are sorry to inform you that we have not been able to obtain an item in your order.

Don't worry, we won't charge you for this item, but this may affect some of the promotions in your order.Your new order summary is shown at the foot of this email.

The item that we were unable to obtain is:

    1 x Damien Simonis,et al Spain
Cancelled on Thursday 07 May 2009

We apologise that we have been unable to fulfil every item in your order on this occasion, but hope that you will return to shop with Tesco.com Books in the future.

    Kind regards,

    Tesco.com Books"

    Sadly, no surprises here.

I got the second email also as above post, but I did not email them so assume it is standard sent out to everyone. First they say it is available but at more expensive price, then they are unable to obtain it. Even more annoying, they are clearly lying

In one email rec'd today Tesco state " We are sorry to inform you that we have not been able to obtain an item in your order" referring the Spain travel book.

In another email also rec'd today Tesco state "If you would like to re-order the book, it will be available again this week on our website at the correct price £7.99."

Are Tesco not being blatantly misleading? Martin put the original offer in his weekly newsletter, might he discuss with Tesco's the errors of their ways and explain how they are attempting to deliberately mislead their customers?

i got this email too, which is a bit of a bu*ger as i'm flying out on the 1st and was relying on the book for some last minute tips... would be interested if *anyone* at all has actually recieved the book for the price stated, or whether it was all a con by tesco??
....I'd rather have two minutes of wonderful, than a lifetime of nothing special....
