Tesco is doing the Spain Lonely Planet guide for £2.49 online. This normally costs £16 and it the new edition, released just last month.

Plus Tesco's currently doing free P&P on all books until 17 May. Cracking deal if you're off to Spain.

Just received the following email from Tesco.
    Dear Customer,

Thank you for your recent book order for Spain ISBN: 9781741790009 from Tesco.com.
Unfortunately, there was an error in the price at the time that you placed your order, and as a result we have had to cancel the book in your order. You have not been charged for this book.
Please refer to our Terms and Conditions on the Tesco.com entertainment site for further details of our order acceptance policy.
If you would like to re-order the book, it will be available again this week on our website at the correct price £7.99.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
    Kind regards,
    Tesco Customer Service
  • After the tip I ordered the book last week and got delivery date of end May....

    Just got this on email.....

Same here. Martin, get on it! :D x
  • Yeah, I got the same e-mail at 1533 this afternoon.
They should honour it, but it all comes down to the goodwill of a company. Them not willing to honour placed orders speaks volumes for them!
  • Just had an email from tesco.com canceling my order (Lonely Planet Spain book at £2.49) because they incorrectly priced it at the time of my order!!! And said I can re-buy it at £7.99!!

I think this is disgusting service on Tesco's behalf, if someone has placed an order at one price, they should receive the order at that price and Tesco cover the cost of their stupidity!

Anyone else got this? I think I'm going to complain, they surely can't do that.
I rang and complained but apparently its in the T's&C's saying they can amend the price and cancel the order, nothing we can do. Just shows they are a cheap company who do not give a dam about their customers. They should honor the original price.

SO annoyed! Also ordered the lonely planet book and I've just got that same email. They do state on the part of their site they refer you to that they're not liable to provide it at the lower price stated if theyve not despatched it to you. But how is that fair? Surely it's against the rules if they can advertise a book at such a low price to get people to buy other books on their site just to cancel the original attraction!! Seems like a keen marketing ploy to me!! But can they actually get away with it?
  • I just PM'ed Martin to let him know about this sad development. While Tesco may be legally entitled to cancel our orders, they certainly don't show much goodwill . 0 out of 10 to Tesco!

i think this is really bad what Tesco did, has anyone contacted Lonely Planet publications about this? I got the same email too first they said it was delayed till May then said it was cancelled.

nickel + dime company, you should buy your groceries from ocado, they price match tesco too, i haven't looked back since i moved to ocado, awesome service too.
