i don't even know what type of car park it is.
but you are allowed to park there up to 2 hours0 -
From the original post, where you state payment is to be made to Legion Group plc, this is a private car park, therefore you do not have a "fine" at all, what you have is an invoice for an alleged breach of contract.i don't even know what type of car park it is.
but you are allowed to park there up to 2 hours
Under contract law, they can only claim for their losses, not for some arbitrary "penalty". As this was a free car park, their losses = £0.00. They will no doubt send you a series of increasingly threatenening letters, but the reality is that they have no case at all, and will go away and try it on with some other gullible mug if you don't respond.
DO NOT pay them a penny - they are pondlife and must not be encouraged.
I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.0 -
The advice you are being given on here is correct.
And not just because this is a money saving site.
The company can not "fine" you for anything.
They do not have the power to do so.
The mob that was trying to extort monies from me sent me a letter saying that court proceedings were about to commence at XXX Court.
What a terrifying thought, so I rang the court, and no such proceedings had ever been instigated. So this letter from them simply compounded their lies.
The letters you get will probably scare you but don't worry nothing will come of it.
Post back here every time you get a letter and you will be reassured.
These companies are just bloodsuckers who wish to steal your money.

What fault?
This is private land, not a town, nor a regulated on-street or council carpark.
Can you demonstrate and quantify how the OP caused them a loss in a free carpark?
If so, I would imagine you would have a very lucrative career ahead of you in private parking!

Interesting - Legion Group PLC have recently changed hands and No longer have anything to do with the Royal British Legion - Instead, they now belong to Sector Guard PLC.
So nothing like trying to hide your scamming under the name of a legit and respected organisation eh?
Oh, don't go anywhere near Legion Group's homepage if you don't have some pretty decent internet security - Its ringing all sorts of alarms on my machine!0 -
From Google regarding Legion Group's webpage:Of the 1 pages we tested on the site over the past 90 days, 1 page(s) resulted in malicious software being downloaded and installed without user consent.
