Thanks for the compliments everyone!. I really need to get off the laptop and go start on me...
rinroo - It took me from question of sport to jonathan ross last night! so i think that is about 4 hours.
I've got to be honest, considering fimo is relatively cheap and you don't need huge amounts, i reckon it's really worth having a go at making them yourself. if you really can't get it how you want, you haven't wasted that much money, althouhg it can be quite time consuming. i would buy one pack and have a play around with making some simple small models first to get used to it before you buy all the colours you need.
oh and don't buy fimo classic, it is really hard. fimo soft or sculpey III is better.

hi again, so the bride is now done too. although in theory it should perhaps have been simpler than the groom, less colours at least, i found it harder to get the dress to look right! my dress is maggie sottero fiorenza, and it has lots of ruching on the skirt, which I didn't even try to do, just added a few flowers for the general effect... I stuck on some seed beads after it was cooked, and even made a wee necklace from a bead and some wire. I inadvertantly made myself quite busty, which I am not at all, wish it was that easy in real life! Next job is to try and work out how to make a veil, think it will just finish it off nicely. i've got some organza, just want to figure how to attach it non-permanently...

a couple of other tips - much easier to do it in daylight! Or at least, check it in daylight before you cook. I didn't realise how much dust had got on the model while I was making it, until i came to cook it this morning. I remembered the tip from this thread about baby wipes though, and found makeup removing wipes have the same effect, excellent! I think the big problem was our navy towels, I was being so careful washing my hands between colours, but drying them on the towels, there was a lot of blue fibres flying about i think. Next time I'd just shake them dry, or dry on a t-shirt or something. anyway here she is:

Wow, they look great! I'm trying to source some red tartan ribbon for my groom's kilt before I start mine. I love the little beads - where did you get them from?
Let me know how you go about the veil!

PS What did you use for rosy cheeks?

the beads are just standard little "seed beads", i just had some in the flat because i used to do a lot of beady things. like these
    http://www.beadsdirect.co.uk/Seed+Beads+Round/Rocailles+%28seed+beads%29+15%281.5mm%29.htm

for the rosy cheeks i had a stroke of genius, i used the corner of a red fimo block to "paint" them on.
right must go and put the little things safely away (with LOTS of bubble wrap..), H2B is about to come through the door from his weekend away..

Woo hoo well done!! love the blush on the cheeks too :D And yes, the dress is one of the trickiest bits. I didn't do any of my ruched detail as it would have ruined it!

One more question (ok, 2 more!) before I order my supplies!

Can you use fimo and sculpey together?

And, whats the difference between fimo classic and fimo soft? Is it litereally that fimo soft is softer to work with?

    Thanks!
