Make sure you're allowed to bring them into the country before stocking up - they're getting much stricter about the regulations on carrying through foodstuffs, to the point I've even seen adverts about it on the TV this year!!

Yes I know but think most of the restrictions are from non EU countries.

However, as we don't take any hold luggage just hand luggage, we can now only buy any sort of liquids like oil, wine or ouzo in the duty free shop once airside.

Still manage to stock up on lots of dried herbs, cinnamon, nutmeg and the like.

Hi have had a bad month. Budget was going well until third weeek in.
Needed lots of comfort food as i was informed that my job is made redundant.

I'm there with you, there's been more booze than usual in my spend this month for exactly the same reason. :o

Don't despair, there are lots of people in our position, and we can all keep each other going

This was my first attempt at a grocery challenge (which I set at £280) and I'm delighted to declare at £226.66. :j:j

  • Spent another £6 on fruit and veg at the market today so have a couple of pounds of the food budget left til Sunday. May need some milk before then though. Made a loaf today, using my bread maker (£8 at car boot sale!) so hoping won't be buying bread for a while :)
Still haven't done a meal planner for next month, have to be strict with myself tomorrow! Then will set the target for next month's challenge!

    I've done it:j:j:j I'm under budget and by £70:j

    DECLARING AT £230 MrsM
will think on June's budget after I've done a freezer nosey and post on the June thread

I'm sure its because I have had to meal plan better as I've started work again (hugs to those who have lost their jobs, it happened to me but I'm back working again and so will you be too.) And as I go by train/tram not the car, no temptation to stop in on the way home to top up, anything I buy I have to carry!

    Hi
Well, I didn't achieve my target but know it would have been worse if I hadn't set myself the challenge, so am declaring £345.26 for May, an overspend of £45.26:o

Please could you put me down for £300 for my target for June, Mrs M. I may have to revise this if DD1 comes home from uni.

    Hi Mrs M

Declaring at £276.43 for May (£3.57 under budget).

Setting budget at £350 for June (which runs from today until 3rd July), not reducing my weekly target of £70 as it's my birthday and fathers day in June so expect we will have a few naughties ;)

My budget is for me, DH, DD and DS who are both still in nappies and on formula and also includes food, booze, toiletries and cleaning products. Take-aways are in a separate budget.
