nicki a lot I know haven't done it because it means you loose several weeks, I am unsure if it works like that unless there has been a change in circumstances which was the original advisory. If you're in an area where LHA is much higher than local HB it might be worth it, as long as it doesn't drop loads as LHA is reviewed monthly instead of yearly like HB rates are done. Some areas (like where we are) many would have to take a drop to go on LHA. They calculate it weekly, so your monthly rent will be x 12 then divided by 52 to get your rate right.

http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=20912729&highlight=lha+housing+benefit#post20912729 £15 extra will be withdrawn in 2010 by the looks of it

I was told I would only loose a weeks as it would be back paid. I can just about manage a week or so paying the rent myself. My current rate is just £75 a week but the LHA is apparently £115 a week so as long as it doesn't take too long I should be better off. I'm going to go and see them on Tuesday I think. I'm sure I won't be missed for another day at work , especially since I'm still dodgy with this bug

Flying wise I've finally finished the clothes/bedding/towels washing (only the kitchen rug & cleaning cloths to go tomorrow, maybe DD's quilt/pillow or I might just air them  ) so I'll do the ironing tomorrow, I've also done some weeding in the garden. I've only got one problem with that though and thats the fact that I can't tell what are plants and what are weeds now as so much stuff has self seeded :o I'm going to pull moss tomorrow when I have a bag to put it in and some gloves to wear ;)

I'm also doing well on the decluttering of programmes on the freeview box. So far I've managed to watch Raising Helen, Gone in 60 seconds, desperate housewives, Catch me if you can, NCIS x 2, Casulaty and now I'm watching tonights CSI: New York :D I'm not a telly addict honest:o :oMeanwhile I have also sorted out my budget for this month properly, taking to account the over spends already accumulated this year for due to unexpected expenses or overestimation of spending :o

Has to be a week or more, so it should be ok Nicki. I just looked that bit up on http://www.dwp.gov.uk/housingbenefit/claims-processing/lha/products/app3-lha-pps.pdf you can get the LHA rate off the website https://lha-direct.therentservice.gov.uk/Secure/LHASearchIntro.aspx just pop your postcode in. It's just the time between them cancelling one claim and looking at the next which I suppose will be the concern then? Always complicated.

Igiveup will post your welcome message here so that might help you - give me a mo

hello igiveup and you are very welcome to join us on the flylady thread -we are delighted you want to try it.
I hope you will find the following helpful but please dont be afraid to ask anything -no matter how silly it might seem -we have all done it and got the t-shirt!
If you want to get your house ship-shape then you have definately come to the right place!Dont worry if you dont have time to post or read all the thread.
Hope we see more of you!

WELCOME TO THE WEEKLY FLYLADY(AND GENTS) THREAD
    1. A new thread starts on a Sunday evening via a link from the current thread so keep a watch out and dive in!
    2. Make sure you read the first post carefully as it contains all the info and abbreviations that we use!
    3. A new list is added to the 1st post every evening by pigpen -the order changes every week
    4. Dont get stressed with the mess just try to do the list to whatever level you can manage depending on your home circumstances - work, children, OH's!
    5. Even if you only manage level 1 everyday when you come back to that room next week you will find it is easier and as time goes on it becomes more manageable and you will see huge differences. I know it sounds impossible but I can vouch for the fact it works!
    6. Remember your home didnt get in a mess overnight so dont expect it to get tidy in a day!! Dont try to do the whole house at once - you will tire yourself out and sicken yourself -we have all tried it! BABYSTEPS -little and often and you will be amazed at the improvement.
    7. Post what you have done and forget about what you missed. There is no such thing as failure on here!
    8. If you want to post a list and strike out what you have done -go 'advanced' (its down at the bottom of the messages) and then highlight the line you want to strike out -press the S with the line through it (its near the end of the list of symbols above your page) and it will say'strike' at each end -when you post your message it will show with a line through it!
    9. If you want to answer a particular post then press 'quote' and you will then be able to type a reply. To help keep the thread tidy & short if there is only a small bit of the post that you want to reply to then just delete the bits you dont want but be sure to leave the 'quote' at each end.
    10. To put a Christmas Tree in your post so that pigpen adds you to our list on post 2- click 'post reply' -type that you want to be added to list -then on the right hand side below the smilies click on 'more' and you will get a little window with more smilies -you need to go way over to the right hand column to find the christmas tree -click on it and it will appear in your post!
    11. Dont worry if you cant keep up with the thread it moves very fast just now - just pop in and post and let everybody know how you are doing!
    12. To defrag your pc (it appears on the list!) go to Start>>All progs>> Accessories >>System tools >>Disk defragmenter. You should do both C &D discs but 'C' is the important one - the more often you do it the less time it will take.
The support, encouragement and friendship on here is simply THE BEST! ask any questions and we will give you our tuppence worth - sometimes sensible sometimes totally insane!

We dont bite - well most of us dont -have fun!!
WELCOME to the totally bonkers mad house!!
    toots xx:D

p.s We have a star list(post 3)- if you finish a day's list (levels 1,2 &3) you have to post and say so and you get a star! It has certainly motivated us! toots xx
    Peace will be mine

Tell me about it being complicated  I was told at the one stop shop (our council are brilliant with these places :D One thing I have to compliment them on ;) ) that if I cancel on the Monday, and then go back the following Monday and re-apply I'd only have to cough up 1 weeks rent myself. Easily done if I can just stick to my grocery budget for one month :o Apparently when the new scheme came in, loads of people did this so they could maximise their benefits, guess I'm just too honest to reapply after 1 month of originally claiming :rotfl::rotfl:

Igiveup - hope that helps you a bit - you decide what level you want to work to and post it if you want - you do the days you can or want to as appropriate to you - ther is usually a weekend list but like the others it entirely up to you if you want to do it - pigpen has been nice to us and given us this weekend off.

ladyL - nice to see you honey - please dont stay away just because you are not flying - you could be here cracking the whip!!! And I cant see you on FB!!!! I hope the pain etc has eased a bit and you are a bit more comfortable. Love n hugs xxxxxxx
mummyyof5 me.....overdoing it....never!!!! you must be mixing me up with someone else!. Hope you have been busy knitting!!

Hi all - anybody missed me while I've been away?

Since I stopped visiting this thread I've noticed my standards slipping somewhat, so I have to slink back here, cap in hand and ask you to let me come back.

Valli - I like your new avatar. ;)

Please can any of you who do prayers, please put in a good word for my MIL. She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on Thursday, and had an op this morning to remove it. She lives in SA, and my DH only came back from visiting her two weeks ago! He's pretty devastated about it as you can imagine. We've googled this type of cancer and tbh the prognosis, even if discovered early, is not too good.

    hello
hugs to everyone, esp Denise ((hugs))

    Sarah
    - thanks for PM, lots to think about, much appreciated, thanks

Mudbath and anyone else on no alcohol challenge - are you missing it ? I've not had any booze for 17 days I thin, not missing it at all, feeling well chuffed :D

    Had a lovely day today.
DH had a mammoth lie in as he had a big night out from work last night and he really can't do big nights out any more :rotfl:
I took the kids out for a few bits of shopping and
Went to Clarks to get new shoes for DS and DD2. £50  for 2 pairs of shoes one of which is titchy.
DD2 was in her last pair (her first pair actually) for just 6 weeks
Anyway we needed them and so it was a successful trip.

DH got up at 12 to take over with DS and DD2 and I took DD1 to a party.
We got back at 3 and MIL came round for early birthday celebration for DH - his birthday is on Wednesday. We took the kids to the park and then picked up fish and chips for all of them and chinese for me (more weightwatchery) for tea.
MIL then dropped me round to our friend's house where DH left car last night (they got the bus in to town) and I had a good old chat and a cuppa with said friend.

Also at some point potted up my pepper, tomatoes, and courgette seedlings. Sent sopme home with MIL so am in her good books :)
