Morning everyone - the sun is shining and it's only 4 days till payday
Going to get showered and dressed this morning, then need to make some bread rolls for lunches this week, and tackle the ironing  and I need to study for my exam tomorrow (panic has set in ). I'm hoping DH will run the hoover round, and I can persuade DD to lift a finger too.
Has anyone got any tips for when you don't feel in control of anything? I mean the house is a tip, I work 5 days a week (30 hours) and I'm going to college one day a week and have about 20 hours of study/homework to do as well. If I could just feel in control of one thing I think I'd be happy :rotfl:
Sorry, moan over.
I hope Mioliere gets her internet sorted out soon - I'm missing her posts.
Christabell - how annoying for you - hope you get some more sleep today
Pen Penguin - congrats to the small penguins
Dinner tonight will be summer in winter chicken with tagliatelle
Have a lovely Sunday everyoneSquares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)0 -
Good morning everyone  Another bright sunny day here, so the garden beckons :j Still no rain, so that's a couple of weeks without any for us :eek::eek:
Both of the children are off with Explorer Scouts to our St George's day parade, but none of us is sure what time it isDD has slept at friends (who are also Scouts) so they should be able to fill us in. I've made a belated resolution to get on top of dates and appointments, as my once excellent memory is starting to fail me
I have a beef joint (from a local herd) out of the freezer for supper. We'll have roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, the last of the HG sweetcorn, and a HG rhubarb crumble and custard. DH has gone to make coffee, and we're having toasted HM raisin, apricot and cinnamon loaf.
Have a great day, Penny. x:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -

Morning everyone,
It's a lovely day here again. We didn't actually get much rain yesterday, so I was able to get my washing dry.
OH bought me a present yesterday:j.....a new rotary washing line! I've been wanting a new one for years. Mine won't stand up straight anymore and the plastic covering on the line has worn away in places. My new Brabantia has 4 sides, old one has only 3. It needs concreting in so OH will do that this afternoon. I'm strangely excited by it:o:D
OH is taking kids swimming this morning so I think I'll sit in the garden with my meal plans. I sholud trim the lawn edge in the front garden really and cut down the dead tulips.
I have a piece of brisket for tea tonight. I'm going to pot-roast it in the oven with some red wine and a few veg. We'll have it with new potatoes and PSB. I'll make a rhubarb crumble for pud.
Lunch will be kipper paste, cheese and oatcakes, plus carrot sticks, watercress and tomatoes.
Have a good Sunday everyone.0 -

Morning!
A lovely sunny day so far but I think that we're due some rain later. The gardens need it, it's not usual for Manchester to go so long without itI've got a chicken roasting in the oven, new potatoes in the pan ready & the salad in the fridge so an easy lunch today. Tea will be sandwiches with any LO chicken, ham & salad. I've decided to start doing the Sunday dinner at lunch time from this week as the children are all generally out at tea time & don't always want to come back for it. Typically today they are all in all day
Washing out on the line then ironing later although there's not much as I've been doing it every other day to keep on top of it. This afternoon I'm going to do some sewing - I have found a blouse that I cut out & semi completed 2 yrs ago & 4 lots of material that will make up into 2 tops, 1 pair of trousers & a lined skirtI'll have a new wardrobe when I've finished
Grandmasam - I keep meaning to ask you about your estate gardening. Is it a scheme to generally brighten the place up or are you doing it yourself? It sounds lovely either way & I hope that you have plenty of willing volunteers :T
Off for a browse now enjoy your day's whatever you end up doing.

hi sunnygirl, the estate is my very large garden, complete with apple trees, plums, blue conifer, and a giant pittosporum  which desperately needs a haircut!!
ds 1 2 3 have forbidden me to climb any more trees or use a chainsaw! ds2 confiscated it
divided into two so the bottom is like a secret garden, where the vegs are, you guess im an avid gardener as well as an old styler !
now 61 so ive time to play on my estate, called this as family and friends are gobsmacked at how huge it is,:jand i do it all myself, the exercise is good as it keeps me fit!Saving for another hound :j

Hi everyone
The thread has been rather quiet the last couple of days, maybe everyone is out and about with the dry weather "up north"
I am still finding it cool and wrapping up warm, even with the relatively milder weather. For some reason life seems more hectic here than in Spain, whether it is the pace we seem to go at I don't know.
DS has been home for the weekend, and we have been unsuccessfully car hunting with him:rolleyes:, DH is also whittering about changing ours too:eek:. DS went down to Nottingham for a friends birthday last night, and has just returned. He requested steak for dinner (something of a rare treat for him) so managed to get some as all good Mum's would. Have got some blackberries we picked last year and some apples out to make a crumble/pie
Made Toad in the hole with some special Lincolnshire sausages on Friday, with mash and veg, and DS made short work of that. Also had a 5 seeded loaf ready, and have had one requested to take back with him.
Had friends round last night, and had a BBQ, but ate in the conservatory, it was nice to see them again, had not seen them since January with being away, plans made for our first 'van outing next weekend. Fraisthorpe near Bridlington.
Pen-Pen - congrats to your DD, does she belong to a swimming club? My DS belonged to one for a while and it certainly kept him busy, and wore him out, and he learnt how to eat then (before that he was never hungry!). Certainly good exercise. We saw a reminder that the St George's Parade was on in Donny today, we have been involved in that for a few years in the past too with cubs/scouts.
Take care - DG

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Afternoon all,
Slept very late this morning so not long finished the gammon steak which OH cooked with chips, onions and pineapple...dinner will be be something light I think!
Nothing exciting happening here to-day, DD3 has just arrived with her monster dog who races all over the house as if he were in a field! DGS 2 loves him and is busy now getting ready to go out the fields with him.
Going to spend my afternoon knitting
Hugs to all who are in want or need
