Afternoon all
DD came over today & we went to Basildon House, it was used in the Pride & Prejudice film & we treated ourselves to a cream tea.
Then we went to a garden centre & I bought some Sweet Peas & an Acer, I'm feeling flush, having been paid for haveing the lodger.
Have a good evening everyone.
Hugs Hester

Hi Chums
Well today has been a brilliant day. We watched the marathon unfold this morning and then Mrs B did some gardening whilst I tidied up and did a spot of cleaning, then I watched some footie and then Maisie came round (21 months of fun !) so everything stopped! Then tonight I did tea cos Mrs B had worked so hard in garden, made a lovely tea out of frozen Lidl Chops done in oven with herbs and garlic oil, then chopped some lovely soft pots to make roasty garlicky potatoes, then did some cauli and broccoli and then put some cheese on top and then smotherered with gravy - yum yum! it was lovely, then watched Countryfile, napped and woke up to the Baftas, well done French & saunders fo getting lifetime award thingy..... now on here and wide awake,,,,,,

We acquired 2 six week old kittens to-day from an add in a local newsletter...brother and sister who have been named by DGS2 and now rejoice in the names of Thunder and Sheila...I would have preferred them to be a little older but they are fully weaned and house trained so I suppose they will be ok....have to ring vet to-morrow to see about injections and neutering etc. They are happy enough but would like someone to play with them non-stop....chance would be a fine thing! They will get lots of attention but I intend that they should be outdoor cats once they have got used to us...they can sleep in a small kennel we have, should be cosy enough.
See you all to-morrow

Good evening chums,
well I'm back from my holiday in the Dales and all the washing and ironing is done ,but not yet put away .I had a great time and was very lucky with the weather. Our cottage in Hope washalfway up a mountain and I woke every morning to the sound of mother sheep and their baby lambs. What a beautiful part of the country the Dales are.fantastic scenery and the people are very friendly and welcoming. We visited Chatsworth, great house, but worn out with the walking.Buxton is a great little town to visit I have never seen so many charity shops in one high street, bought far too many second-hand books. Bakewell was very pretty, and we fed the ducks, who competed with the trout in the river for bread. Trailed over to Matlock to try to find the electoral rolls for Outhibridge for the 1920s and found they were housed in Wakefield .So we went to the archives there and found lots of things that my friend was after. We met up with her 2nd cousin and they kindly took us out to Sunday Lunch in a pub called the Blue Ball just outside of Outhibridge and I had the biggest pub lunch I have ever seen.I think there must have been half a cow on the plate .The food was amazing and so much of it.
We ran out of time eventually so didn't get enough time to go into Sheffield properly, but she saw the house her Mum had been born in in Popple Street, Sheffield and managed to get a photo of it also bamforth Street where her other relatives had lived .We also got to the Horse & Jockey pub in Wadsley where she has a photo of her Gt Granddad who lived in the cottage next door to there in the late 19th century. The landlord was lovely and showed us around although the little cottage has long gone.Altogether it was a great holiday, and I hope I will be able to return to the north again.Nothing like you imagine it to be, not a whippet or clog in sight;) ,but some smashing people and I enjoyed every minute.
Didn't even spend as much as I thought I would (apart from the books)next trip now is to Amsterdam in July with my youngest DD to see her beloved U2, so it's back to OSing.Hope you have all been watching the pennies whilst I was off having fun.Well time for bed ,so I can read some of my bargain paperbacks
Cheers everyone

P.S. loved the 'Homity pie@ and got some lovely Leek & Goats cheese pasties from the Chatsworth Farm shop0 -
Meanmarie - desperately envious of little kittens. Though evil cat has always been an indoor cat due to circumstances I do think cats flourish outside. They are certainly not as domesticated as dogs. We think that evil cat was no more than five or six weeks when we got her, as a kitten in urgent need of a home. She has done fine, although she has always been small.
Hester -also envious of sweet peas. I love their scent.
Salopman - have you recovered from Maisie yet?Skimmed the thread so sincerely sorry for those I have missed - hugs to all.
Well, little bear, after persuading me that he is going off naps had a lovely long nap this afternoon and was out like a light again at 8pm.I think I shall do what I did when he stopped sleeping all day, just watch how his body clock is working and go with the flow. When LB had a nap, so did I, so did DF and so did DH
Evil cat has been to the vets again. Apparently the vet complimented dear heart on how affection she was. I had to sit down when dear heart told me this.
The ubend under the kitchen sink gave up, but I was aware that this day would arrive and had a reserve to hand. Dear heart fitted it. I flooded the kitchen when I tried to find out why the washer which drains into the ubend under the sink wasn't emptying. I suspect that the washer is responsible for the ubend failing and not vice versa. So tomorrow I call a very nice man who repairs washing machines, does a professional job, turns up when he says he will, and charges what he says he will charge. I think he is wonderful.
I have a bucket of dripping washing, which will involve much time and motion study to best arrange between bath, airer, damp washing and sopping washing. Rain is, of course, forecast.
Donnygal - I am definitely in the market for a hotpoint.
Evil cat attacked darling father this evening. Actually it was a lot of hissing and threats, but she did do a spirited attempt at a bite and scratch but for a 77 year old darling father's reflexes are remarkably good and he got away in time. She had been inciting cuddles all evening and then, as I warned him about two minutes in advance, she decided she did not want any more cuddles - or else!
The lamb casserole that I defrosted turned out to be a half portion so it ended up as a lamb and bendy veg and end of packet of bacon casserole. With lots of peas cooked separately and roasted potatoes from the Remoska.
Darling father goes home tomorrow. LB will miss him dreadfully - of course I will as well, but LB and DF are allies. I do not expect naps for a few days, regardless of what his body clock is saying.
LB has unscrewed one of the handles on his sock drawer, and I can't find it anywhere! Fortunately the screw is on the inside of the drawer and the bit he screwed off is too large to swallow and choke. I just can't get to clean socks and vests until I sort it out.
I am sorry if I have missed anyone. Hugs to all.Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0 -
Ooo Marie, new baby kitties!! They are very young at six weeks, but as you've discovered are non-stop bundles of pure energy. Have they climbed the curtains yet? Have you got any pictures you could show us?
Where is everybody? Usually there's about 70 or so posts at this time! Hopefully everyone is snoring their heads off and will start the week all lovely and refreshed.
G'night all!
