    Hi all!

Wow your all doing so well! I have no idea what is in mine. Its an old jar that used to have some kind of sauce in it at one time I think.....oh may have been mayo actually! I cant remember. Im at work and its at home, so I cant check!

Anyway......I think there may be about £10 in it, perhaps.....i dont know. Once its full Im going to pay it to the credit card I havent cleared yet!

Can I ask - what do you do with the change.....do you take it into the branch and hand it to the cashier along with the bill and tell them you'd like to pay this to that? I grudge going into the bank, cos they charge you to pay your bills (well they used to!)

I also grudge putting it in those change machines at Asda - they take some of it! To be fair, I dont know how much......

    Anyone know? xx

Hey jo, what i would do is go into a bank and ask them for some change bags, then sort the coins out into whichs one, like 20p you need a bag worth £10 - its all displayed on the outside of the coin bag to show how much for each coin.

Before when i wanted to change anything i would go into the bank which im with and asked them to just change it up for me, and they can either bank it into your account or just change it up into notes and pound coins. :) I felt abit bad at first it being bags of pennies and that :o but in the end its all still money.

just wanted to ask how can i get rid of smell from these jars? :D im using a old gherkin jar and all my coins smell of pickles. how can i get rid of this smell? i thought i washed it out very good with soap but it just wont go away. help!:p

Jo, I do what Focus has suggested: bag up my money and take it to the bank. They put the money in my account and then I pay my bills online. It's really simple and easy to do.

Nuala, I've not been that good! I've got some weightwatchers cakes so have been eating them! It's not quite the same as that satisfying crunch you get when you bite into chocolate, but it's nice. I've run out now so might be getting some of the hard stuff tmrw! ;)

Well done everyone with adding to your piggybanks. I've not put anything for a few days now, it's getting lonely in there! Maybe DH will come home with some change today...

    Morning folks!

Hope you're all enjoying the weekend.

It's chilly and rainy here in Dublin this morning so I doubt I'll go out today.

I popped into the bank yesterday and got a load of change bags in anticipation of cashing in my change. I love counting coins - I should set myself up as an alternative those rip-off machines in supermarkets. But tempting as it is, I'm leaving my jar till the end of the month.

Funny you should mention smelly jars Jo, I was wondering the same as I have a load of pickled onion jars. The don't smell too bad after being in the dishwasher but the lids still stink and I washed them several times! Maybe wiping with a little essential oil? Let me know if you solve the problem.

Anyway, €1 for the pot today.
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

Nothing for me to add today. No change at all and used card when out shopping. Must do better next week.

Welcome to the thread Mcjordi. We are a friendly lot, I hope it helps you to save some money and get those debts paid off. I know what you mean about wanting to pay off everything as quick as possible!

Well done Nuala for saving some more and don't worry Buster about not putting much in. I'm sure you are doing your best.

I've not added anything to my pot, but my MIL gave us some money and the cheque cleared today, so I've paid off nearly £4000 of debt today! I'm so happy! We still have £1000 left of the money she gave us, DH is buying his truck insurance now and then I can pay the rest to another card. So I have one less card to worry about now, it was the one with the biggest amount of debt on and we were paying huge amounts of interest so it's a great relief to pay it off. It also means we will have an extra £140 per month to pay to another card now! Yay!

Hope you are all having a nice weekend. I'm taking it easy today as had a late night last night and then slept badly. Feel very tired and groggy but hoping to go for a stroll down the road to try to wake myself up in a minute. Going to try to persuade DH to come with me!

I'm the same, I split it.

Are you Scottish or from Newcastle?
