Problem with Hermes Delivery Services

I ordered from bits and pieces on the 5th Dec and am still waiting for my delivery. When I've contacted the company they tell me it's with the courier Hermes, I've asked for the tracking number but they say they can't give it to me they just say it's been dispatched. I've tried contacting Hermes on 0871 246 1583 but just get a message saying I'm not at my desk leave a message & will get back to you.
Looks like my sisters not getting her christmas present - it's not like I ordered it last week they've had plenty of time to deliver. Incidently the items I did order last week and didn't expect to arrive have been delivered in record time! All the other items that I've ordered since have arrived too, this company is taking the p and it's not just because of the bad weather(not an excuse if other companies can manage to deliver) if you look at past threads this has been going on along time. I will make sure Hermes are not the couriers next time I order anything.
I'm very unhappy.:(0 -

I'm outstanding 5 parcels - all with Hermes - ranging from 20th November to 3rd December in despatch from retailers. Hermes have given a multitude of excuses and lies, inlcuding claims that the delivery address in inaccessible and has been for 4 weeks now. Amazing how 2 Haulage companies, one taxi firm and a bus company can all operate from premises further along a road which Hermes deem inaccessible.
I'd love to see someone start a "sticky" showing which couriers are used by which Retailers. I'm more than happy to boycott any company which uses Hermes.0 -
I have already posted a list on this thread of companies that use Hermes.
Problem is, courier companies win and lose contracts all the time, so it's forever changing.0 -

When I log in to track on Hermes, it says:
DateTimeStatus
15/12/2010 10:53 Not Received by Courier
15/12/2010 04:48 Out For Delivery
14/12/2010 23:23 Hub Sorter Receipt Scan
13/12/2010 08:23 Order Generated
...according to the above, the courier didn't receive it, from whom though?
According to that, Play have despatched the item and Hermes have received it. Hermes have NOT delivered the parcel to the courier (but I don't know why - I would suggest it's because the lorry can't get to where the courier lives)0 -

They've had a couple of inches for 1-2 days in that whole period and apparantly that has caused this enormous backlog that they can't deal with.
I know couriers who work in East Anglia and they have had FAR MORE than 2 inches and if they read your post they would be incensed.
They are inundated with parcels at the moment, and doing their level best.
I don't think there is much of the country that's not affected - apart from the south/south east where you appear to have been pottering.0 -

If there's no tracking information, then you don't know for sure that it's even been despatched to Hermes, let alone to the courier.
Hermes won't deal directly with you, which is why they are ignoring your calls. Unfortunately, you'll have to keep chasing Bits and Pieces and demand to know why there is no tracking info - as the moment Hermes receive a parcel from a client, there is tracking info.0 -

I would imagine the courier has been contacted via the FM and told to make every effort to deliver your parcel come rain, shine, snow.
The courier has then gone to his unofficial storage area (as Hermes will have been dumping hundreds of parcels on him every day whether he can get out to deliver or not as well as paying no storage fees or insurance) and has tried to find your parcel amongst the hundreds now piled up around his property.
My guess is the courier can't find it, and has therefore reported it as missing as a replacement then ought to be sent out.0 -

Well if this is really how the company operate, then they sound like a complete shambles.
Hundreds of random parcels 'dumped' on some poor single courier, no proper procesess for organisation or location of parcels.
If your little description of how things are done is correct, then you are not painting a very good picture of the company and they should not have contracts with such major retailers and be trusted with the delivery of some very expensive items if this is how they treat them.
And as for me 'pottering around' I wish! There were one or two days that were more difficult than usual to do my 45 mile round trip to work, but the snow has not been that bad. As I've already said, Home Delivery Network, DPD, Royal Mail and Interlink Express have all managed to deliver to me, albeit slightly delayed by one or two days, but not by weeks and then lose it completely.0 -
I have been waiting for two items since December 13th. One from Debenhams and the other from Miss Selfridge. Both companies promised me replies - both did not do so. However, yesterday I was told that both companies use Hermes as their courier service.0
