Just got a flight for next march for £412 paid £949 last time so feeling pretty damned good considering they are one of the best airlines in the world - but have a night stopover in singapore so now need to find a nights accommodation - will look at their £1 deals closer to the time.
YAY am going home (even if only for a months visit)0 -
Yippee- I booked earlier today, through the netflights.com site for me & my son to Sydney for £803 return! And Sing Air is so good, I am thrilled.
Only dissatisfaction was netflights charged me £18 to pay by cc. and flights are going so fast that I did a go to quidco.com to get book via link but that flight was no longer available.. thankfully I was still on the booking page on the other browser so quickly snapped a deal, without cashback thoughTotal was £821 leaving 29/11/09 back on 29/01/10-- last chance to do before little one starts school the following year, so he gets a good visit with all the relatives- problem is now finding a cheap deal for hubby to come for 2 weeks at Xmas- mega £££'s then.
If you get a flight grab it!:j:T0 -
Hi
Can anyone help me, I really seem to think I am doing something wrong as I can't seem to find ANY good deals and the website seems continually jammed on my dial up connection.
I am looking flights leaving Manchester to basically ANYWHERE in Oz or NZ, but prefer Melbourne or Brisbane...
Leaving end March coming back 1st or 2nd week in May 2010. I noticed the OP said outbound flights must be booked by 31st March but it didn't mention if your inbound flight had date restrictions, I just wondered if anyone had found this was the case.
Thanks,
Rachel0 -

Do these flights actually exist for New Zealand? Kayak lists them for several dates leaving in February next year, but as soon as you check the prices, they are all £700 or so.0

Right, I know this is going to be considered 'un' MSE, but for anyone that's desperate to book, wants to travel, and can't find seats, call up a ruddy travel agent and get them to look. The price should be the same, and they can see far more information than you can. Spending hours on 'aggregators', and websites that are going down will cause you a great deal of stress, probably cause you to miss out on flights, and therefore could cost you money.
It might be that connecting flights are full, so you might need to break up your journey for a night or two, which you might want to do anyway. You might need to reverse your planned itinerary, or fly into a different airport (and then connect), but if you are flexible, you should get something.
For example rbulph. If you want to go to Auckland, the first connecting flight available from Heathrow is for departures on 21 Feb, and there are a few seats available at the end of February. Christchurch flights are wide open from Feb 22nd. Australia flights are wide open throughout the month as there are many more flights using Singapore Airlines, and there is good availability to Singapore on most dates, but again, you might have to stopover.
A lot of flights on the way back will be difficult as most Singapore Airlines flights connect with SQ 322 which is Singapore Airlines night time departure to the UK, not their 2 day deaprtures (at 09:05 and 12:55), so often you would need to overnight on the return.
Remember you will pay slightly more tax everytime you stopover in Singapore.
rachelandgromit - with only 4 odd Manchester flights a week these are filling up. There are seats available on 28 March, but first onward flight to Brisbane not until 01 April, but you can get to Melbourne on the 31 March (along with Sydney). There are no inbound flight restrictions (except for availability). There is no availability showing after 01 May for Singapore - Manchester, so book a return to Heathrow instead. Again you might have a stopover in Singapore. But at these prices, who's complaining.
There, that took me all of 5 minutes, so anyone else that is struglling get on the phone. Availability is good, the airline is brilliant, reliance on the internet could cost you0 -
Anyone know if you can incorporate a stopover for close to those prices, or, is it transit time in Singapore only? Would like a few nights there.0

You can incorporate a stopover for as long as you like in both directions, the additional tax would be about £12 in each direction (that's a well-informed guess).0 -
The price should be the same
Do you mean this? If so I see no point in calling a travel agent.
I prefer to see the options that are available first, then make the time investment of planning when I would like to go and for how long, and then book. If I have no confidence that the prices are actually available, I won't go to the trouble of researching the trip. Seeing prices available online gives me more confidence than a travel agent telling me that he has tickets available - it's more precise information.0 -

Well you are missing my point then!
You couldn't find dates in February, it took me about 10 seconds. You wouldn't find an website that tells you you can get the cheapest if for example, you fly back on a certain date, and have 1 night in Singapore. Or, for example, that in the time since I looked, there is only 1 seat left from Singapore - Auckland left (there were 3), but Christchurch is wide open.
When I say Travel Agent, I mean someone like Trailfinders or Travelbag etc etc. They have access to a live system that tells them at any point how many seats are left at the cheapest price on a particular route. They can check availability before you've even entered your url. It's entirely up to you. If a reputable agent tells you there are seats remaining, they can put your names to them for a day or two without you having to commit yourself.
It's entirely up to you how and when you book, but unfortunately your option might not be the best, but if its' the only method your trust, c'est la vie.
P.S I'm not a travel agent!0
