I wonder if I quickly log onto graze then and say I don't like anything except pineapple? I wonder what time the box orders go through?
I definitely wouldn't be able to keep track of all your accounts! £600 is a good start til he asks. Do you know what your target would be? I'm going to start a car account though with my empty A&L acount, I've worked out £50 per month would cover my insurance and tax for the year and leave me £200 for maintenance. But work colleague has me pondering scrappage again, augh!
Have discussed moving in with OH after Christmas once his degree is finished with so going to have to start thinking about saving for deposits etc ... EXCITING!!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
Ooooh very exciting Tete - deposit for buying or renting? Renting isn't a huge undertaking to save.
Target overall or by the time he asks? I'm aiming for 1k by the time he asks (quite hard when I don't know when that'll be but he's made it pretty clear it will happen at some point!), but probably going to need about 5k overall I guess? Don't want a formal do, want a tent with a bbq or animal on a spit and a buffet or something, and a bit of music. Have a friend who is a fantastic makeup artisit who would do it for free, and another who does hair, bit of a gap on the photo side but we think we know people who could do some music.
Step away from the scrappage scheme - you love your bluey and he passed! No reason to 'save' 2k on a new car you don't need, when that would set back you moving in with OH, and when you come to sell it on you'll have lost at least that 2k just driving it off the forecourt.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Since Bluey has just past the MOT for another year then no point jumping on the scrappage scheme.
We only did it because our next MOT was going to be another £600+ and could not cope with that 2 years running0 -

I agree with Dinah, don't get taken in by the scrappage scheme, Bluey sounds lovely anyways! Way exciting news about looking into moving in with you OH!! Will you be buying?0 -

OK OK! *Mumble, chunter* I'm just worried I won't be as lucky next year with Bluey, but yes probs back to plan A and try to save up £1k or so by next August just in case, for a new-old car
Just renting, so will need probs a month in advance plus damage deposit .. not really sure yet. This is all on the condition that I bake on a regular basis, so my skills must be improvingI think I've said before we have plans to have a year or so in Australia in a couple of years and buying a house would be a bit tying for us at the min.
Eeeks to the idea of an animal on a spit! My friend had like an evening barbecue at her wedding but it was after the wedding meal and no-one was really hungry I don't think. Another friend served up bacon butties at about 10pm and they went down very well!! But a £5k wedding, wow, I think things only have to be as expensive as you make them.
ETA, I know Poolie, I'm thinking next summer if the noises I've heard about them extending the scheme come to fruition. I do love Bluey tho
ETA again - Just read that article Cinny, what a lovely story!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
But it might well NOT be 1k next year Tete, I mean if it is then great, you have the money there for another car, but my car is 7 years old and hasn't ever needed more than £50 of repair work done for the MOT even when it had a cracked suspension spring. Meanwhile my VW lupo needed over £700 of repairs on its first ever MOT when it came out of the 3 year warranty!
I'd ideally like my wedding in a tent in my own garden so we can buy the booze and what not, but my parents garden is on a bit of a slant, plus they wouldn't want all the people at their house as it needs a lot of decorating.
So, a lady at work has said to give her a leaflet for my cakes once I get going (hopefully next week), as she always buys a finest one from Tesco for Sundays, and she'd rather get one from me!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

The spreadsheets sound very impressive Dinah, at least it helps you work out where you are. I usually do a spreadsheet to work out who owes who what in terms of rent and bills at the end of each month. Also do one to work out how much I have left over when I get paid after rent, bills, travel, money to dad etc. Although isn't much use as I never keep up with it.
Tete - that is exciting about moving in together!
The london lite just brought us ice lollies into work yum!0 -
That is exciting about moving in talks Tete! Good timing to move after Christmas, you'll be able to get everything for the house in the sales!
It really won't make sense to trade old Bluey in now, but what do I know, I keep looking at the new Fiesta with a wistful look and a sigh... If I could just get my hands on a spare £12k so I could get one I'd be happy! Although I'd actually need twice that as I want it in deep pink so we'd have to get another 'Boy Car' for OH! Even though he doesn't drive yet he won't want to own a pink car!
That's cool about the lady at work wanting to buy cakes off you Dinah! Once she spreads the word you'll be inundated with cake requests! Although I wonder when you'll get the time to do all the baking! I only say this because it takes me about 2 hours to bake a batch of muffins as I'm so useless and flappy and messy when I attempt to bake!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Grief! 15 mins max then obviously baking time. I'm doing the cakes for another bloke at work's birthday on Wednesday (cost + a bottle of wine), so need to make sure they're spot on AND I have the leaflets by then. Thinking of keeping it simple, hobnobs, lemon muffins, choc and ginger cheesecake.
Judging by the prices charged in town I'm thinking about £6 for a cake, possibly as £5 for an unbaked cheesecake or maybe stick with the £6 for simplicity (don't want to price myself out), but needs to be at least materials cost doubled to cover elec etc, and no clue on the muffins/cupcakes/cookies, need to price those up this weekend.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Yep exciting news on the cakes, I'm with Birdie tho it takes me forever (which is why I get so upset when they go wrong!). Twink's hobnobs didn't take too long the other night, apart from having to bake them in batches, they always go wrong if I try to alternate two trays between shelves. OH took a load to work and passed them off as his own, which means they're good and everyone must like them!
Mmm, I like the new Fiestas, and the new Kas... Just noticed that BSM have a fleet of Fiat 500s so am considering taking lessons againWeightloss: 14.5/65lb0
