The dentist really should have given you comprehensive instructions, and you should have been able to ask any questions you had then.
DO NOT MUCK ABOUT WITH ALTERNATIVE CHEMICALS!
Get back to see your dentist and don't leave the surgery until you are completely happy with what you have to do.How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
Do they actually work and if so, which ones are the better ones?0
-
No.
They won't acually change the colour of your teeth.
Some of the better ones can keep staining down, which can make them seem a bit whiter, but that's about the best of it.
Which ones are the better ones? It depends a bit on what types of stain build up on your particular teeth.
The Arm & Hammer baking powder ones are OK, but a bit salty. Really, experiment around a bit, but stick to the 'better' names like Colgate, McLeans etc. Avoid the whacky ones you might find on a dusty shelf in a funny smelling shop!!How to find a dentist.

as Toothsmith says, they won't 'whiten' your teeth -all they can do is remove stain.
I'm quite wary of many whitening toothpastes as alot remove stain by being abrasive-this in turn can make your enamel rougher thus increasing stain long term!
I personally like the Macleans range as they have quite mild abrasion but still remove stain.
The main thing is to completely avoid any powdered toothpastes - these are the most abrasive!0 -
Hi I have just bought a cheap one from somerfield, which does get rid of the stain and your teeth seem white, but not sure if it is doing long term damage to my teeth at the same time! I did use the strips on the teeth a while back but they made your teeth quite sensitive, it was like bleaching! Try & get something that is going to help your enamel is my advice.....YOU LEARN SOMETHING NEW EVERY DAY

I wonder if she's a dentist? Otherwise it'd be illegal, wouldn't it Toothsmith?:smileyhea "here, hare, here" :smileyhea0 -
Yes it would, but checking the website, it's a kosher dental practice.
Bit 'flashy' and cosmetic for my taste, but each to his own, and their website is certainly very professional.
Seems to be a one-stop shop for cosmetic dentistry and cosmetic surgery.
Ho Hum, such is progress I suppose. So long as there are people wanting to part with huge wads of cash to have great lumps of themselves cut off, or great plastic lumps stuck on, then there will be people willing to take that money and actually do it to them! How to find a dentist.
