Not bad if your 'local' practice is a city centre place.
I charge £380, but I'm out in the sticks a bit, with cheaper running costs.
The 'Ultraviolet' method isn't ultraviolet - it's just a bright blue light.
The effects are more immediate, but the whiteness doesn't last anywhere near as long. Dentists that use this option often back it up with the gel and tray system over the next few weeks in order to make the change more permanent.
It tends to be a bit dearer than just the gel & tray because of this. How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
Anyone had this done? I use the at home product- gum shield with Carbamide Peroxide as used by Dentists, but this system being introduced in beauty salons uses Chlorine Dioxide with laser. Its claimed to be safer, with less sensitivity. I'm tempted as my salon has half price introductory offer on at the moment, but I'd like some feedback from anyone who's had it done. Dont want to waste my money if its no good.:smileyhea A SMILE COSTS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING0

Hi,
I saw something about teeth whitening here a long time back so wondered if anyone can help.
I really wish to get my teeth whitened as this really causes me to lack confidence. Teeth whitening toothpastes dont work and I believe I may need my teeth bleeched as my front teeth are stained pretty bad.
Could anyone advise on what may be my best cause of action, if it helps I currently live in Birmingham.0 -
The best way to get your teeth whitened is to go to a dentist. I would seriously recommend you stay away from home bleaching kits, bleaching done at the beauticians, etc.
I personally prefer to do the 15 days at home followed by 1 appointment in surgery for my patients.
But good results can be had from either the 1 visit surgery bleaching or the one I mentioned above.0 -
Hello Beaded Lady
I'll move your thread to the 'Health & Beauty' board.
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

HTHIt could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.0 -

Around 300 to 600+ pounds depending on your area and dental practice.
Very few at the 300 end I would say.0 -
As a dentist I would not recommend going anywhere near this.
The site does not tell you anything useful, and the GDC is now cracking down on non-dentists undertaking tooth whitening as it is illegal for anyone else to do this procedure.Whether you think you can, or think you can't, you are usually right.0 -
I have been looking at Ebay at some of the teeth whitening products out there and also reading information on forums like this but I am getting confused.
One website i found which helped was www.whiteteethcompany.co.uk
Does anyone have any experience with them?

I had trays made my dentist and bought 15% gel from there too. This all worked fine, I did 2 hours a day for about ten days and my teeth looked great.
Then I saw that you could buy stronger strengths for much less on ebay and thought that I'd get some to use at a future date. I applied it sparingly and within a minute or so my gums were burning so I rushed to the kitchen sink and managed to wash it all off quickly. Luckily I only had a couple of blisters but it could have been a lot worse if I'd had to run upstairs to the bathroom.
It made me realise that anybody can sell anything on ebay. This stuff in the tube could have been anything, it could have even been made by teenagers in their bedroom having a prank on people.
I was very lucky, just beware of not buying it from a dentist.:smileyhea "here, hare, here" :smileyhea0
