For £16-39 a month (due to go up in May by £1-35) I get a 40gig broadband download at up to 8 meg speed, free evening and weekend phone calls, free calls to 36 international destinations and this includes line rental.
In May I get free local calls anytime and in June free 0870 and 0845 number within my calling package.
All this for £17-74 a month, that`s why I`m happy with TalkTalk and if you know of anything better for the money, name it. :T:T:T
I pay my BT line rental, something like £12 and then have Tiscali, which I pay £6 for as I am on a retention deal with them. So for £18, I get the free calls, 0870+0845 free from BT plus an uncapped broadband at 8meg from Tiscali, as opposed to your limited 40gig0 -

You obviously don't read the news then?

Tiscali is well known for being one of the worse ISP`s on earth.
A 40gig limit is really ample unless you`re downloading 24/7,then I agree there should be a cap anyway.
I installed a broadband meter 2 weeks ago out of curiosity and set it for 40gig, so far I`ve used 7%.
So to argue that 40gig in tiny is a load of tripe.
TT lets you go unlimited for another £5 a month but 40gig is ample for most users,i would have thought.0 -
Totally agree with alared.
With BT I was paying an average of £18 per month when only making £2 of calls. My BB with NTL/Virginmedia was another £18 a month for 2mb.
Now I pay approx £17 per month for both, and the BB has been much more reliable and faster (up to 8mb - checked at actual 7mb). I have come nowhere near my limit and there are myself, wife and two daughters using pc/laptops.
Think I am going stay with TT0 -
Feel a bit sorry for DebtHater he/she seems to be with the two worse companies in the country,Tiscarli and BT.0

Been with TT for over a year now and very happy with their service.
I can understand the OP being angry as things didn`t go how they should.
BUT, instead of ranting on this site, they would get more and better help if they joined TT`s member`s forums where the reps are there every day.
http://www.talktalkmembers.com/forums/
The reason I rant here is two fold,
1st I can't register on the Talk Talk website as my account isn't recognised, according to them the account doesn't exist! I have tried to contact the Talk Talk rep on this site via a PM, and they said they worried about the security of this iste and that I would have to contact them through the Talk Talk forum... so a bit of a vicious circle there! No wonder I'm frustrated!
2nd maybe if I rant enough on here enough people will decide not to go with them, so they will actually LOOSE money... this thread has already been seen 315 times, I wonder how many people will have decided NOT to go with Talk Talk because of what they have read here, people vote with their feet!
To add insult to injury I received my bill with the post today, incredibly my welcome pack and router can't seem to find their way to me but the bill can...:rolleyes:0 -
I have had untold problems with Talk Talk, and each time they send young men to my door to try to sell us their products we laugh the poor bu&%ers off the property.
On the other side I have been with Tiscali for a few years and they have been brilliant. We did have a couple of problems early on with Tiscali but their customer service was brilliant and we got a nice cheque as compensation. You can stand there and agonize........

Tried to sing up with Talk Talk last year as we were fed up paying lots with BT(I make lots of international calls, 3-4 a day sometimes) , received the confirmation letter fairly quick, been waiting for a connection date as it said it will be done roughly in about 3 weeks, one month after still waiting...Phoned to be told they cannot do it, Bt's fault or something and that I have to ring BT to sort it out.Rang them said it's nothing to do with them...Rang TT and they said they will try to transfer us again...
After waiting for another 2-3 weeks and being fed up with no letter or phone to tell us what's going on, I've rang the customer services again to be told it hasn't been done... again...At that time we have decided to go with Orange so I've asked TT to cancel our order for phone and broadband.
We're with Orange ever since and they are great, great value for money, no probs.
Talk Talk is rubbish, would not reccommend.0 -
We have had various issues with Talk Talk as well, mostly relating to our phone.
We don't use it a lot - apart from every weekend when we call Australia.
Anyway, this happened about three times and every time we got the same response from TalkTalk.
We pick up the phone - no dial tone - can't ring out, can't ring in. We ring TalkTalk on the mobile (expensive). We talk to someone who tries to tell us that it is our phone at fault. (One guy even once tried to tell me that the problem was in Australia when I had tried to ring four different numbers in four different areas of the country!) Then we go through the rigmorale of telling them that a) our internet is still working and that uses our phone line b) we have plugged the phone in to the main outlet and it is still not working and c) we have taken the phone to someone else's house/work and it works there. Then they try to scaremonger you by saying that they will send an engineeer, but if it is your fault, you have to pay. Just send the engineer!
Miraculously - the next day or the day after, our phone starts working again - never any contact from TalkTalk in regards to "is it fixed" or "we have fixed your phone".
The cheek was OH got a call from a sales person trying to get us to upgrade our service. However she started with "How are you finding TalkTalk?" to which he replied "It's actually quite crap" and she didn't have a response!
thanks for that - I feel loads better now0
