My £3k challenge

Yesterday we borrowed a chest freezer from next door for the pig, and I kid you not it's half full of joints and chops, all for £35. Bargain or what. We also got given two large argos bags of nearing out of date cakes, breads and veg, so some bread and veg duly frozen and the rest is going towards the lovely roast dinner we'll be having tonight.
Last night's meal was lovely, and worth the money spent, we only spent £40 on meal and drinks for both of us so was a nice night and was good to go out and chill for a change. I'm just not looking at the bank account lol.0 -
Its good to go out and chill sometimes. Don't feel guilty just look at the progress you have make so far. You deserve a treat now and again.Mortgage: £59709.77 (26/08/17) Now £58683.93 MFD Nov 2033Current OP Savings £3952.68.

Glad you had a nice dinner out, you deserve a treat after all your hard work.
Sound slike the pork will last you ages!0 -
Wow, that is amazing value for your piggy. And fantastic getting some veg etc thrown in. Did you say you would be back next week for more of the same?!
Glad you enjoyed your night out too and £40 for you both was good, I'm sure MSE Martin would allow you that one!0 -
Lol thanks guys, roast piggy is doing nicely and will be ready shortly if anyone is hungry.
It does feel good to let the pressure off for a bit to be honest. The sunshine helps too0 -
Yeah, I know what you mean, although it is raining here! We are having whoopsied (spelling?!) beef olives and OH is in the kitchen making sweetcorn and coriander soup (a slimming recipe too - lots of talking this w/e - finances, health and everything!). So sharing cooking and healthy eating starts now! Enjoy your lovely roast, I bet it will be really tasty being a real proper one if you know what I mean. Jamie Oliver eat your heart out!0

Lots going on in your house then Primula. Good luck with all the challenges.
It's a bit grey and overcast here this morning. We were planning on going to the beach but not sure yet. I have to go and get a birthday present and card for my nephew but have some vouchers that I will use I think.0 -
Sounds like you've got enough challenges on your plate with the meal planning
At the moment I am focusing on running down stocks of things and trying to crack some of my bad splurging habits using the 100 day challenge and then I PAD and do the NSD challenge to keep on top of non-essential spending as much as possible. Changing what I'm doing in challenges helps to keep me on my toes.
Glad you enjoyed your meal out2019 fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons0 -
I think my meal planning has taken a little turn due to the pork delivery, but I am still going to write a list every week of what I need to make seven meals plus extras for work that can be frozen, and do it that way to reduce the shopping bill.
Off to check my bank account and I'm scared lol0 -
Meal planning is a good way to reduce the shopping bill. Before I started meal planning I was spending up to £200 a month for 2 of us. It is down to £140 now.Mortgage: £59709.77 (26/08/17) Now £58683.93 MFD Nov 2033Current OP Savings £3952.68.
