if interested, I found a place in Camden, London , that will do a factory reset (and unlock) on your '3' 7600 to enable 2g services all the time - without it searching for the '3' network on all sims. They charge £5, and take about 5 mins to do it! not sure if ok to post this - but sure it will be removed if not:
Embassy repairs, Unit 4-5 Centric Close, Oval Road, Camden. tel 02074859873
now have an unlocked / sim free 7600 without the 3 problems!! (and its on now on Ebay for sale cos its still an ugly phone with a !!!!!! of a navigation system!! ;D)
cheers for the info!0 -
OK have read and understood (I think) all the bits about unlocking and getting the thing reset to use 2G instead of 3G. But, like the original poster I have no interest in 3G or the 7600 phone. What I would like is to take advantage of the £3 per month rental agreement with the free minutes and texts etc.
I want to continue using my 3510i.
What do I need to do to get the sim working on my 3510i using the 3 contract? (Phone is unlocked)
Any guidance appreciated. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
No good!
You can only use the 3 SIM in a proper 3 phone.
(The problem about using it in another is that 3 are informed by o2 of the handset's identity. Once they realise what you have done, they kill the SIM and issue a new one which is fixed to only work in its original 3 handset)0 -

So the best I can do is to use the ugly 7600 and lock it to 2G?This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Any idea if 3 are happy for you to use a 3g handset from another network? Probably not an issue till the other networks do PAYG 3g.......0 -
Sorry if this is an obvious question but what's stopping me taking up the 7600 offer and then putting that sim in one of their Pay as U go phones which are far nicer.
Agreed that it means paying £50-60 for another phone but then that sim can be put into the 7600 to make that an emergency PAYG phoneYou know what... you can't beat a good bargain!!!0 -
