I've received my phone, searched the board for the factory reset, found a website. Generated the code and its invalid
I tried a number of ways, the may way that i could gather was something like :
#pw+************+1#
(this was yesterday at home, i am at work now - so i dont have the exact number)
They all seemed to generate 1 through to 7, 1 being displayed above. I tried a number of way, none of them worked.
!!!!!!, could you please tell me the site/method that you used please?A bargain is only a bargain if you would have brought it anyway!0 -
I reckon you have to do it like this:
1. If the phone is on 3 network, then put a non 3 SIM in it. The phone will say SIM invalid or something like it, then it will display "undo?"
2. At this point you input the code you mentioned in your post.
Doesn't seem to unlock if you leave the 3 SIM in it when you input the code. That's what I've found anyway.0 -

You can't do a factory reset by code alone!
Although you should be able to unlock the phone using a code, this is not the factory reset necessary to continuously use your "3" SIM via o2.
More research needed on the existing threads!!0 -

Existing threads seem to contradict each other
So your saying i will have to take the phone to one of those mobile phone doctor type places to get it unlocked? Or buy the equipment myself? So what does the code actually unlock then? According to http://www.trycktill.com/eng/unlock_swe.asp
the code 7 should completely unlock the phone. - you need to generate the code before it tells you this.A bargain is only a bargain if you would have brought it anyway!0 -
I went to one of those places, told him what i wanted. He didnt seem to know what i talking about, with 3 using O2's network and everything.A bargain is only a bargain if you would have brought it anyway!0

A code will completely unlock the phone. But it will reset itself to a 3g phone when you hit a strong 3g reception area (3, Voda and Orange all have 3g).
If you want to use the phone with ordinary 2g sims, then you need the factory reset doing!
(Also needed if you want to fix your "3" sim to always use the o2 network).
Look out for MSE member Drachir's posts on the subject - he does a reset for MSE members for just £4, and makes a charity donation out of this as well.0 -
if interested, I found a place in Camden, London , that will do a factory reset (and unlock) on your '3' 7600 to enable 2g services all the time - without it searching for the '3' network on all sims. They charge £5, and take about 5 mins to do it! not sure if ok to post this - but sure it will be removed if not:
Embassy repairs, Unit 4-5 Centric Close, Oval Road, Camden. tel 02074859873
now have an unlocked / sim free 7600 without the 3 problems!! (and its on now on Ebay for sale cos its still an ugly phone with a !!!!!! of a navigation system!! ;D):j0 -
does anyone know anywhere in the midlands that will do a 7600 factory reset for a reasonable price? the 3 signal seems to be dying fairly regularly now.

thanks m8
still doing this for mse members
if you have tired more than 5 times with code then it will need to be unlocked with cable and box (which i can do at the same time as the menu reset)
