I resent continually being called cheap. I'm a highly skilled migrant and I'm on the same pay scale as a British person. I'm here because I fill a skill and knowledge gap.

The slave trade is over, the government does not go to foreign lands to find people to work their fields for no money. :rolleyes:

Am I English? I hold a British passport and was born in UK My father is 'english' (his mother was white immgrant, his fatehr english with a dash of Welsh) My mother is a white immigran, from a country which was previously 'pioneered' by immigrants, from Britain as well as other places. Is my DH ''British''? His paternal (non christian) family have record of being in this country for literally hundreds of years; not recent immigrants, how long does one have to hve been here for to be classed a ''non imigrant?''. He was born in Britain and raised mainly in Italy, but like me, other countries too. He holds a UK passport. As his blood is non distilled with any ''British christian blood'' can he count as British?

ETA: we both have English,accents, somewhere around RP pronouciation, and pale skin.

They aren't illegal-Poles have the right to work here-just as you have the right to work in Poland.
I often wonder why you never see vans of native born workers actively looking for work like this though.....maybe sitting on their backsides and saying "There's no jobs" is easier?

If it was built only on war, it wouldn't have lasted very long. Britain only has a small population. Trade is what kept the empire going for as long as it did. Just like it did with the Roman Empire. No need to thank me for correcting you btw.
