Is it just me or are the post office counter staff getting worse? Today I send a special delivery using a used yet serviceable jiffy bag. The person at the post office said I should always use a new unmarked padded envelope for SD, she would let it through just this once!

If you're sending something by SD you can get a free SD postage bag to use. If they don't like you re-using jiffy bags you could cover it by putting the jiffy in one of the bags. The bags are free although some PO seem to be quite tight in letting you have them!

Oh there's a right little madam (for the want of a better word) at my PO - I was going to use some of my stamps that I get from doing the RM surveys to post something to my sister, but madam said that I couldn't use those stamps  I rang RM & queried this & they said that's what my stamps are for. She tried it on with me again but I soon put her in her place. I think she gets annoyed with me as I always have my own stamps & she thinks I should buy them.

Then there's the one who puffs & blows when I ask for a proof of posting certificate

Not a big posting day today as I had no Amazon sales to boost the posting bag (come on Amazon, lets have some sales...) but the Crown PO got my £18 postage money rather than the sub as I am not going to chance any more of these large letters being overcharged as a packet when they are not.

Didn't know you could do that.

Do they charge you for them?

I have a roll of RD labels, a roll of SD labels, a roll of ISF labels and packs of Airsure. Sheets of airmail stickers and a roll of custom forms.

They also order me packs of 50 silver SD poly bags which I turn inside out and use for shipping.

    Just ask.

the reason why RM have had to clamp down on this sort of thing
just wait till it all stops.....
the idea is the SD bags are easily identifiable in sorting

ask for a 72p stamp and a recorded slip (unless its gone up.)

fill em and then hand them in?

Recorded is now 75p. We still scan them and put them through to give the customer a receipt to show both the number and the addy its going to. There is a bulk speed option which we use for businesses, so if all your items are prepaid ask for the form (you list the addys on it and the corresponding numbers) this gives one receipt with all the numbers listed.

Can I raise my head above the parapet and say that for a few YEARS now I have been working in a PO.:D
