Any suggestions?

What type of thing are you looking for, type of food and budget?
  • Don't mind what type of food. We like most things. Budget, I'd like to go to one or two fairly nice restaurants as we're celebrating our first wedding anniversary.

Otherwise just "run of the mill" price restaurants.

Poole has lots of Bistro types restaurants and plenty serving fresh seafood.

Bournemouth I always find a bit grotty, especially around the sea front.

If you are mobile there are a couple of really good restaurants near the Priory in Christchurch

We're actually staying in Poole so that's good to know about the restaurants in Poole.

We are mobile. Do you konw the names of the restaurants in Christchurch that you recommend so I can look them up?

There is the Boat House that is on the Quay

http://www.boathouse.co.uk/, there's a menu on there so you'll know if there's anything you really like

    La Mamma is always popular

Splinters is lovely, but a bit pricey! Gary Rhodes recently opened up his new restaurant in Christchurch, 'Kings Rhodes'. It's at the old Kings Head Hotel opposite the castle ruin. I haven't been there yet (sadly!), but lunches start from £13.50 inc wine. 'The Crooked Beam' restaurant in Christchurch has also got a good reputation.

If you fancy Chinese, there's Flame at Tower Park in Poole - handy if you're going to the cinema/bowling. They do all you can eat for a set price. There's also a Nandos and TGI Fridays up there.

Friends of mine went to The Old Thatch pub a couple of weeks ago and said it was great - they have been doing two meals for a tenner during weekday evenings (you'd need to check if this is still on). It's not too far from Poole (about 20 min drive depending on traffic).

If you're in Bournemouth 'The Moon in the Square' is great for a coffee (it's next to Debenhams). It's a J D Wetherspoons, so fairly run of the mill, but the food is usually ok, if nothing special!

HTH - have a great hol!

Ooh, forgot to say 'Soho' in Christchurch is also good - nice atmosphere/bistro type place. Enjoy!

There is also the new Gary Rhodes restaurants in Christchurch, Kings Rhodes and Rhodes South if thats your sort of thing. Easy to get to by train from Poole to Christchurch.

(If you like Thai there is the Rising Sun pub in Christchurch which is great, Poole also has a sister Rising Sun but it's not a Thai, just a gastro pub type but also very good)
