Car Scrappage just announced [MERGED]

The only way this is ever going to work is if there is pentup demand for a model there by making one sitting on the forcourt more desirable than the waiting list.
Examples:- maybe the VW Scirocco Fiat 500 but by the time you get one the demand maybe being met.
Basicly just go and buy the car you want and forget the scrapage its a lame duck! I would rarther spend 6k on a used focus than on something new from the far east where I "saved" £2k.0 -
Or alternatively buy one for someone else and transfer immediately. But even then it will be a lot of hassle.0

Wot a bunch of killjoys!!

Now what's Plan B...0 -
I keep on hearing about this new deal from the government.
Has any one got accurate updated info on this.
Has it started already or when will it start and are there any catches?
I have a 10 yr old corsa and am thinking about going for some of these recently reduced new cars deals. If I could get another 2K off by trading in my old banger then I could be getting a new Citeron C1 for about 4K

Put it this way, it's advertised on local radio as if you give your 10 year old car to Fiat, you can have a Panda for more than they were a year ago without partex.0

And whats the catch? Is Martin going to do a mse peice about this?
Ive seen new supermini group 1 insurance cars work out about 5K, if you could get 2 or 3 grand off that price then this is seriously going to affect the already trouble auto industry. I feel sorry for any 2nd hand car sellers.
So could I really get a brand new supermini for about 2 grand as long as I trade in a qualifing old banger?0 -

Exactly, deal drivers have that car for £5721.73.
So you pay £130 too much and they scrap your car taking a decent motor out of the system :rotfl: Thanks Gordon!0 -
