From Tiscali to TalkTalk

Hi All,
Last week I was waiting for a call back from TalkTalk and about to sign up to "myTalkTalk" phone and BB for £6.49 pre month + £11.25 line rental.
Today TalkTalk offered me (and I took) a package, exclusively for Tiscali customers, as follows:
£50 credit on first bill
£29.99 connection fee waived
£6.49 off for 3 months (= £19.47) leaving only the £11.25 line rental to be paid,
then £17.74 per month for the remaining 15 months of the 18 month contract. This package includes free E/W calls, free local calls from 1st May & free 0845/0870 call from 2nd June too! I realise all that glitters is not gold, but TalkTalk seem to be as good as most suppliers and with Tiscali going under the choice is limited.
This must be the best offer on the market at present I think.

Hi EmmaL,
I'm glad you replied to my post because I just received my "welcome" letter in the mail and the details it contains are not the same as your salesperson Paul Jones (Wimbledon branch) told me on the phone when I joined TalkTalk. He told me I would receive £50 credit on my first bill + the £29.99 connnection fee would be removed + the £6.49 would be removed for the first 3 months, saving me a total of £99.46.
The welcome letter states that the £50 credit is to cover the connection fee and first 3 months at £6.49. Whilst this is still a saving to me it is now £49.46 more expensive than I was quoted when I joined, so who's made the error and how will I be compensated for it?Note to Self: When posting, remember to keep within "forum rules" to avoid upsetting other "interested parties"0 -
I've found Talktalk to be OK. I had a line problem which wasn't their fault and since that was resolved, no probs at all. My average bill for phone and broadband is around £23.0

James W,
That's good to hear. TalkTalk seem to score much the same as most companies in this field - about 50/50. To be fair Tiscali have been OK apart from right at the start, but even then they gave me numerous £5 credits for my phone calls to them. I would have stayed with them but the "Money Saver" in me just egged me on!! (and the fact I didn't want the fear that Tiscali might just take my payment and then shut down one day, as did a previous BB provider "Nextcall" a few years ago).Note to Self: When posting, remember to keep within "forum rules" to avoid upsetting other "interested parties"0 -
Hi Portalnd boy,
The credit of £50 is to cover the connection fee and first 3 months service - it is not in addition to removal of costs as described here. I am sorry if you feel that this was described differently by our sales team. I've tried to send you a PM so I can look into this further but your settings dont allow it. I can not offer the credit and the removal of costs from your account as this is not in line with the offer.
Can you possibly register at https://www.talktalkmembers.com/forums then I'll be able to look into this further?
Cheers

Hi EmmaL,
I just tried to register with the TalkTalk forum but keep getting the following:
"Your Telephone Number / Account Number Combination Does Not Exist Or The Account Is No Longer Active. You Must Have An Account To Access This Site." (followed by my phone and account numbers).
I only got my account number today so maybe it is not "live" yet? I'll try again in a day or two.
Thanks.Note to Self: When posting, remember to keep within "forum rules" to avoid upsetting other "interested parties"0 -

Hi EmmaL,
I decided to transfer to Talk Talk because you were not increasing your charge in April 09 if we signed up prior to this date.
I rang on the last day of the offer as I saw a piece on GMT by Martin “the money saving expert”. I spoke to Emma on the phone to arrange the new account and she confirmed that I would get exiting rate of £10.50 line rental for 1 year.
I received a phone call a few days later and again the price was confirmed although I can not recall the name of the gentleman.
You can imagine my surprise when I get the “Important info” pack informing me that my line rental will be £11.25.
I rang your customer service number and followed the numerous options until I got to a lady who would only rapidity informed me that your prices went up in April and this was why there was a difference even though I explained that I only signed up due to the offer.
I feel that I have been either duped into signing up with Talk Talk0 -
Hi Ooze,
I am afraid the information given by Martin regarding the ability to freeze the line rental price was incorrect. The cost of line rental is going up for all customers on all TalkTalk tariffs. I am sorry if the sales agent lead you to believe this was true as it is not the case. If you want me to investigate the sale of your account then I am happy to do that for you but I would need you to post on the TalkTalk Members forums to do that.
Cheers
