Do shoes come off at the door?

yes shoes all off at the door. After watching a program where they tested fibres off a carpet and found it full of faeces then i insist on it !
Tough if people dont like it but i dont want my kid crawling and playing around in a room full of poo. yakTRYING hard to be a good money saver :rolleyes:0 -
i tend to have indoor and outdoor shoes. though if i've been out and about i wouldnt take my shoes off just cos i've come in the house. and my dad and brother are farmers and when they come in they dont even take their boots off! mud everywhere! but i live in the country so its to be expected. plus the whole house is tiled so easy to clean.DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY

I used to have a sign up by the front door when I had carpets! (how OCD is that?!)
Now I have hard floors and am not so precious about it. Although it does gripe me if people don't stop to think to remove their shoes. Especially kids for some reason - it just seems so rude."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
I hate having anything on my feet so can usually be found barefoot... Daughter always takes her shoes and coat off and dumps them on the stairs when she comes in and husband leaves his shoes under the stairs... (neither of them seem to be aware of the shoe cupboard...) I wouldn't ask visitors to remove their shoes but some do anyway... When I visit close friends and relatives I always kick my shoes off... But more for my comfort than their carpets...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

funny how you respect your own things much more than when they belong to someone else! (e.g. parents carpets)Target Savings by end 2009: 20,000

Im so shocked by this thread. I was always told to take my shoes off in any house, so I expect it now. I do let workmen in with theirs on, but If they're really messy I ask them to put a dust sheet down. It really annoys me when certain family members just walk in and dont take their shoes off, I think its so rude. Id never do it anyone elses house, so why think they can do it in mine! Yes I know Im monica put I just think shoes off is just everyday manners!
Oh I also live out in sticks, so in the winter theres no way Id want all our filthy wellies in the house!0 -

Definitely shoes off at the door, the only people who don't are workmen who are going in and out and then the dust sheets go down.
IMO its easier for guests to relax without their shoes and I prefer guests to treat my house like their own, within reason:rolleyes:Debt [STRIKE]£52,656.60[/STRIKE]_pale_£41273.42:)

We've only had a new carpet down for just over a fortnight so it's shoes off in this house!
At the moment, only we do it, and my Dad who pops in everyday, BUT if I leave a couple of pairs in the middle of the hall when I know someone is calling, they see the shoes and remove theirs too
There is nothing more annoying though, than someone who just walks straight into your house and doesn't wipe their feet when they come in (especially workmen!) ~ I ALWAYS wipe my feet when I enter somewhere, even if it's bone dry outside ~ maybe just habit now?Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
I always tell people to keep shoes on. I'm not even that fussed about the kids either. I have lots of children coming in and out from playing and a muddy pawed dog. We invested in hard floors so we can just relax.0
