Is the GIOL forum worth the risk (with poll)?

Options
Well, the MSE Zealots have struck again in closing down a thread discussing casinos. In the interest of fairness should all threads discussing bookie offers not be locked as well? After all the explanation for closing the thread was "locked as not risk free".

Bookie offers are inherantly risky as well and yet these are openly encouraged on the site. In recent months we have heard of:
  • bookies welching on bonuses (bluesq, sportingbet)
  • accounts closed because of IPs, multiple sign-ups from internet forums (betjoint)
  • dodgy RAFs (partybets)
  • bookies going bust (goldvictory, betchance)
  • rule differences (rule 4, tennis)
  • abandonments (football, baseball)
  • people making a mess of their bets and losing a pile (no names mentioned to save embarrassment)
I feel that this forum is more of a danger than it is worth as these kind of risks are not made clear enough, whereas simple offers like the casino thread in question are closed in a flash even though the risk of losing any money at all is miniscule.

All the guides on this board come with a disclaimer not to bet with money you can't afford to lose.

As long as you stick to the guidelines most offers here are risk free and are a great way to make some extra income. Casino offers can lose you money just by following the guidelines, that is why they aren't risk free.

This post really is a knee-jerk reaction. Everyone should be able to make their own call on whether they want to do it or not.

A casino bonus in general with 25x or 40x WR is a completely different thing to match abandonment and rule difference.

And yes, I have lost money MB'ing but purely from my own mistakes, not from "the system" or bookies.

How can a sign up bonus at a bookmaker with a wagering requiremnet be risk free.

Its not possible when signing up to know for certain that the odds the site offers will be good enoughth to fulfill the wagering requirement without taking an overall loss.

Ok Ken, thanks for the response but sticking to the guidelines does not always help. In almost every case I highlighted, problems could have occurred even if you do as you suggest and stick to the guidelines (whatever they are).

The casino offer in question had a total WR of 8x, which was almost impossible to lose money on.

    .

    That'll be me last month.:o
I messed up my bet ..someone warned me on here ..I just wish I had read the response before the game ended :(

I lost about £180 ...That represents less than 5% profit from MB for the last year ..I have quite surprised myself at how few mistakes I make....I expected a few more.
I do think that casino bonuses should not be discussed here.
Things like variance and casinos re-interpreting their own rules are much more common.

links to Casino friendly forums .."The gamblers underground" comes to mind ...Should be the response given to casino bagging questions.

In fact any body who has not yet been to that site might be surprised when they find lots of familiar names ;) to answer any questions they have .....they may also get to read just how naturally unlucky I really am :)

Nothing is risk free. The distinction between MBing and casino offers is dubious at best.

Personally I've done tons of very dodgy books. As a result, I've made somewhere in the region of 40k. However, it now looks like 5k of that is lost to goldvictory. Maybe I get some back, who knows. It's the price of doing dodgy places, and overall well worth it (eg I made 5k from betot).

Why not look at their odds before signing up then? I've never used a book where the odds tightened up so badly that a profit couldn't be made during a WR and if their odds weren't great to start with and you feared losing too much over the WR, underlay heavily on bet 1.
After posting about receiving an email to my MSE username/email from 'Money Expert' (note the use of ' '), I am now unable to post on MSE. Such is life.

We have to draw the line somewhere - Martin doesnt want this board to become about gambling so we have to stick to the "lock in a profit" offers. There are plenty of other forums on the internet that exploit casino bonuses.

I fall in the third bracket when I lost £700
It isn't starting to hurt though.

This loss was some time ago and I have made far more than that back by continuing.

Maybe add a third option £100-£1000 but it's all good
    ?
